Hayden Panettiere’s death on Sunday, August 16, has raised many questions! Reports that her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, was with her at an apartment complex in Greenville, South Carolina, at the time first responders were called to the scene have been troubling for some, and those living in Panettiere’s neighborhood have begun speaking to the media about Hickerson and his relationship with the “Heroes” actress.
Hayden Panettiere’s Neighbor Reveals Details About Brian Hickerson
Neighbor Mia Terrazas told TMZ that warning posters previously appeared in the neighborhood, warning residents about Hickerson and urging them to “call 911 immediately” if they saw him on their property. TMZ reports that the “warning poster with his photo went up after a string of complaints about his alleged behavior.”
The homeowner association posted the warning in August 2025, which Terrazas claims was “after years of disturbances involving Brian.” The poster was removed a week later. She said Panettiere purchased the condo after leaving New York, and that “Brian had been living there for the past two years.”
Terrazas told TMZ she was “always scared” of Hickerson, who has previously been arrested for assaulting Panettiere in 2020. Terrazas said she felt Hickerson was “dangerous the whole time he was living with Hayden … which continued even after the court issued a no-contact order.”
Another neighbor, Judson Mill Lofts, told Page Six that he had not been aware the “Guiding Light” actress was in the complex at Greenville before her tragic passing. “I don’t know that she was there long, and I’m not sure she even ever left the apartment,” he said. “I can only speak for myself, but you know, I never saw her, [and] I haven’t spoken to anyone else that said they have.”
He added, “The apartment complex has sent out a couple messages saying it wasn’t anything criminal and that there’s no reason for anyone to be scared or anything like that.”

The news comes after a source told Us Weekly on Wednesday, August 19, that Hickerson had reinserted himself into Panettiere’s life. “Brian was with her at the time of her death,” the source said. “He had inserted himself into her life and was surveilling her.”
The source continued, “All was well up until a week ago when she went kind of silent, and then she passed away. She had a lot to live for; she had plans to go on a girls’ trip. She was going to see her daughter in Europe. But [in] the last week, things had changed and Brian had inserted himself into her life.”
A Page Six source told the publication that on Tuesday, August 18, Panettiere was hiding her reconciliation with Hickerson. “If Brian was back in her life, then it was something she was hiding because she wasn’t speaking about it with many of her friends,” the source said. “If you’ve gone through some dark times with people, and spoken about it, then there can be shame if you get back together with that same person. So maybe that was why she hadn’t mentioned it to us.”
