BLACKPINK Drops First Teaser and New Album Date

BLACKPINK is officially back.

The global K-pop group announced its long-awaited return this week with the release of a stark first teaser for its upcoming mini album, “Deadline,” confirming a February comeback that has already sent fans into a frenzy. The announcement marks BLACKPINK’s first full-group release in years and signals a new chapter following a prolonged period of solo projects and international touring.

The teaser, shared across the group’s official social media channels, reveals that “Deadline” will be released Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. KST. The short clip offers little beyond the album title and release date, but its minimalist visuals and ominous tone sparked immediate speculation about the project’s concept and sound. According to YG Entertainment, the release will mark BLACKPINK’s third mini album.

A Long-Awaited Group Return

BLACKPINK last released a full group album with “Born Pink” in 2022, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and cemented the group’s dominance in the global pop market. Since then, members Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa have primarily focused on their individual careers, releasing solo music, pursuing acting roles, and expanding their presence in fashion and through brand partnerships.

Billboard reported that “Deadline” follows a period of intense fan speculation, fueled by the group’s limited musical output as a unit. While BLACKPINK remained visible through performances and endorsements, new group music remained scarce, leading many fans to question when a proper comeback would arrive.

The answer began to take shape in mid-2025, when BLACKPINK launched its “Deadline” world tour. During the tour’s opening shows in South Korea, the group debuted a new song titled “Jump,” performing it live before later releasing it digitally. Forbes noted that the track marked BLACKPINK’s first new group song in nearly three years and hinted that a larger project was in the works.

What ‘Deadline’ Could Mean for BLACKPINK

While YG Entertainment has not yet released a track list or production credits for “Deadline,” the album arrives at a pivotal moment for the group. Each member has sharpened her individual artistic identity over the past few years, raising expectations for how those influences will come together in a group setting.

According to Forbes, the mini album is expected to include “Jump,” though the label has not confirmed whether the song will appear alongside new material. The lack of details has only intensified fan engagement online, with listeners dissecting the teaser’s imagery and theorizing about potential themes.

While solo releases expanded the members’ creative range, the group’s strength has always rested on its collective chemistry. A successful comeback could reaffirm BLACKPINK’s standing as one of K-pop’s most influential acts, even as newer groups continue to enter the global spotlight.

For now, BLACKPINK has said little beyond the release date, letting anticipation do the work. As the countdown to Feb. 27 begins, one thing is certain: when BLACKPINK sets a deadline, the world pays attention.
