More than a decade after their infamous 72-day marriage ended in divorce, it seems the whole world knows what Kim Kardashian is up to. From business ventures to high-profile relationships, she continues to make headlines. Few, however, may know what her former husband, retired NBA player Kris Humphries, has been up to since their split.
Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian’s Short-Lived Marriage
Humphries and Kardashian met in October of 2010. At the time, Humphries played for the New Jersey Nets, and his teammate Jordan Farmar introduced him to Kardashian. Farmar and Kardashian knew each other through mutual connections in Los Angeles.
According to Farmar, the two had been asking about each other before he helped them connect.
“I introduced them in New York and they have come a long way since,” Farmar told US Weekly when he learned of their engagement, which came in May of 2011, just seven months after he introduced the two.
By August of 2011 of that year, the two were married, and two months later the event aired on an E! special titled Kim’s Fairytale Wedding. However, trouble was already brewing for the couple as soon as the honeymoon. Kardashian later told E! News that as soon as they were in Italy she felt as though she made the wrong decision, and things only got worse from there.

Thier marriage lasted just 72 days. Despite years of speculation, Kardashian has insisted that the marriage was not a publicity stunt. Instead, she shared that she felt pressure surrounding the highly publicized wedding and acknowledged that she did not handle the situation well.
Where Are They Now?
While fans remain well aware of Kardashian’s life and career, Humphries has largely stayed out of the spotlight.
Retiring from basketball in 2019, Humphries reflected on the impact of the marriage in an essay for The Player’s Tribune.
“I didn’t want to be Kris Humphries,” he wrote. “It’s the craziest feeling in the world, not wanting to be yourself. And I didn’t even want to say anything to defend myself, because it felt like I couldn’t win. You can’t go up against the tabloids. You can’t go up against that machine. There’s no point.”
Writing about his basketball career, he added:
“Because that’s all I ever wanted to be known for. Even now, since I’ve stepped away from the game, I’m trying to stay under the radar and work on a new phase of my life.”
As for his new phase, Humphries went all out on growing a business. He opened multiple Crisp & Green restaurants, acquired ownership stakes in several Five Guys franchises, and eventually partnered with family members to expand Dave’s Hot Chicken locations throughout Minnesota and the Midwest.
The expansion continues. As recently as June 1 of this year, Humphries celebrated the opening his eigth Dave’s Hot Chicken location, and hinted that there may be more to come.
Outside of his business ventures, Humphries remains active in sports. He frequently plays pickleball and recently supported the University of Minnesota’s Golden Gophers men’s basketball program by attending a practice alongside fellow alumnus Willie Burton.
Commenting on the team’s social media post, Humphries wrote:
“Awesome day watching practice and getting to know the new Gophers Basketball team!”
Today, Humphries resides in his home state of Minnesota and continues to keep a low profile, particularly when it comes to his personal life and relationships.
