Bad Bunny Joins Toy Story 5 in First Voice Role as Cool New Character

Bad Bunny is officially heading to infinity and beyond — but not in the way fans might expect. The global superstar is joining the cast of “Toy Story 5,” lending his voice to a character called “Pizza with Sunglasses,” marking his first-ever voice acting role.

Pixar confirmed the news on social media, revealing the unexpected but instantly iconic character. According to Billboard, the Puerto Rican artist, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, will be part of the beloved animated franchise’s next chapter, bringing his signature cool to a toy that is, quite literally, a slice of pizza rocking shades.

While the role is a cameo, it still stands out as a major moment for the artist, who continues to expand his reach beyond music and into film.

A Full-Circle “Toy Story” Moment for Bad Bunny

This casting isn’t coming out of nowhere. Bad Bunny’s connection to the “Toy Story” universe actually goes back years, long before he became one of the biggest artists in the world.

During the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, he entertained fans by creating homemade “Toy Story”-inspired videos using his own action figures. In the clips, he voiced characters like Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Rex, turning them into mini skits that quickly gained traction online. The videos showcased his humor and creativity, and now, years later, he’s officially part of the franchise he once played with at home.

Per Disney, his character “Pizza with Sunglasses” is described as “effortlessly cool and mysterious” and comes from a small group of forgotten toys living in an abandoned backyard shed. While the role may be brief, it adds a new layer to the world of toys audiences already know and love.

The film itself is leaning into a more modern storyline. “Toy Story 5” will explore how technology is reshaping childhood, with the toys competing for attention against a smart device named Lilypad, voiced by Greta Lee. The trailer shows Bonnie becoming increasingly attached to screens, forcing Woody, Buzz and Jessie to figure out how they still fit into her world.

“Bonnie still needs us. Our time ain’t over yet,” Jessie says in the trailer, reinforcing the film’s central theme.

From Music Icon to Hollywood Expansion

Bad Bunny’s latest role is just one piece of a much bigger shift into acting. In recent years, he’s steadily built a Hollywood résumé, appearing in projects like “Bullet Train,” “Caught Stealing” and “Happy Gilmore 2.”

As previously reported, he is also set to take on his first leading film role in “Porto Rico,” an upcoming historical drama directed by Residente. The film, described as an “epic Caribbean western,” will star Bad Bunny alongside Edward Norton, Javier Bardem and Viggo Mortensen, further solidifying his place in the film world.

At the same time, he’s still dominating the music scene. The artist is currently on his “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” world tour, which is set to wrap in July.

“Toy Story 5,” directed by Andrew Stanton, will also feature returning voices from Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack, alongside new additions like Conan O’Brien, Craig Robinson and Alan Cumming, who voices “Evil Bullseye.”

The film hits theaters June 19, bringing a mix of nostalgia, new characters and a modern twist to the franchise — including one very cool slice of pizza.
