Jason Alexander is stepping up to defend Britney Spears. The singer’s first husband and longtime friend spoke out after Kevin Federline’s forthcoming memoir, calling for honesty and accountability while standing firmly by Britney.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Alexander emphasized that he and those who truly cared for the singer remember the real story.
Britney’s Ex Speaks Out
In a lengthy Instagram post, Alexander is speaking out amid claims that are included in Federline’s upcoming book, “You Thought You Knew.” Alexander said he “can’t stay silent” anymore.
Jason wrote, “It’s easy to point fingers now, to talk about Britney’s struggles like you were just some innocent bystander watching it all happen. But that’s not what went down. You were her husband. You were supposed to be her protector.”
He went on to say, “You were there for all of it. You weren’t trying to pull her out — you were feeding off it.”
‘We’re Not Buying the Rewrite’
GettyAlexander, 44, was married to the singer for 48 hours before their marriage was annulled back in 2004. Britney’s ex also hinted at the dynamic between her and Kevin, who share kids Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.
Jason continued, “If you’re going to write a book, at least have the guts to tell the truth about your part in it. The nights you partied. The times you turned your back. You played the game, and now, you want to act like the mature one, like the man who held it all together?”
Alexander’s post ended with him asking Kevin to take accountability for his part in their marriage, which ended in 2007.
“Britney has been through enough — and it’s always men trying to profit from her story while ignoring the damage they helped cause,” Jason wrote. “You want to tell your side? Fine. But don’t pretend you were the victim or the hero. Be real. Be accountable. Because those of us who were really there — who actually cared about her, not the fame — we remember how it really went down. And we’re not buying the rewrite.”
Fans React to Jason’s Post
In his book, which is out on October 21, Federline makes several claims about his ex, including that she stood in their sons’ room holding a knife while they slept, and how she hooked up with one of her female backup dancers.
While Britney has spoken out, saying she has felt “demoralized” by the situation, her fans had her back in Jason’s post.
One fan wrote, “Best thing Ive seen on the internet in a hot minute. High five,” while another added, “Amen, Jason! Thank you for standing up for Britney. Thank you for standing up for truth. 🙌🏼🔥”
Another user commented, “Well said!! The bloke is a joke, I certainly would not waste a penny on this book.”
