There’s no doubt that Chappell Roan has a flamboyant style, and part of her aesthetic includes tattoos. In fact, the singer has just added new body art to her collection: a stunning swan tattoo.
Taking to Instagram to share a look at the ink, you can skip to the second pic to see the star getting the tattoo, before the third pic, which shows off the new piece.
In the caption, Chappell wrote, “Very into swans + Duolingo + cats as of late.”
As for the placement, it’s somewhere that will generally keep the ink out of sight. Allure explains that Chappell “worked with tattoo artist Hichi on the design and placed it on the same arm as her most intricate tattoos, but because it’s on the underside, it’s more easily hidden under costumes and her casual off-duty clothes,” which means you likely won’t see it unless she specifically shows it off.
“The swan’s head, which is decorated with two stars, is gently tipped down and it holds a ribbon in its mouth, which ripples and loops across the base of the design, ending with two more small stars,” Allure also notes. “Despite its larger size, the swan is definitely dainty, with a balletic beauty fit for a swan — or a Midwest — princess.”
Chappell Has Other Tattoos
So what other ink does Chappell have, and where are they on her body?
Well, Allure points out that she has “a collection of hearts, flowers, and butterflies across one arm, a small shell above her elbow on the other arm, and ‘Princess’ written in bold cursive on her lower back.”
And if you aren’t sure about that last one, Allure can assure you by noting that “lower back tattoos are having a renaissance, perhaps in part due to Roan’s influence…” Indeed, they “spotlighted the ‘tramp stamp’ as one of the biggest tattoo trends of 2025.”
Chappell Ignores ‘Arbitary Fashion Codes’
GettyIf you like Chappell’s style — including her tattoos — then you may be the kind of person who likes to break fashion-related rules. That includes ignoring what might be considered “good taste.”
“What constitutes ‘good’ taste, anyway?” asks Fashion Magazine. “The concept of ‘good’ vs. ‘bad’ taste has been around for ages, enforcing power structures and social hierarchies by categorizing some things as acceptable and others as not. It’s pervasive in pop culture, particularly when it comes to women in the public eye. So what does it mean to eschew these arbitrary fashion codes altogether? Look no further than Chappell Roan.”
“A pop icon in the making, Roan has recently catapulted into mainstream music fame for her vivid lyrics and distinctly camp aesthetic,” they noted. “Detailing her experiences with dating, self-discovery and heartbreak as a queer woman, her belt-worthy songs are vulgar, intensely fun and purposely provocative. And so are her outfits.”
