According to Architectural Digest, Parker and Broderick purchased the two properties on West 11th Street in 2016. The neighboring townhouses sit in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village Historic District.
The couple paid $35 million for the properties, according to the February 2016 Architectural Digest report. Hello! later put the purchase price at $34.5 million.
The buildings date back to 1900. They had been occupied by a nonprofit organization since 1920, Architectural Digest reported at the time.
Rather than keep the properties separate, the couple planned to combine them. The result was expected to become a single-family residence.
The project would also dramatically change the scale of the home. The combined property was expected to have a 50-foot-wide brick facade.
For Parker and Broderick, the purchase created the opportunity to build something far larger than a traditional Manhattan townhouse.

The planned home is expected to cover approximately 13,900 square feet. That is an enormous amount of space for a Manhattan residence.
Hello! recently compared the footprint with three NBA regulation basketball courts. That gives some idea of just how large the combined property is.
The home is also expected to include nine bedrooms. There will be five full bathrooms and three half-baths.
An elevator is another planned feature. It will provide access to the different floors of the sprawling residence.
The garden is another standout detail. Architectural Digest reported in 2016 that the property would include a landscaped garden measuring about 2,100 square feet.
That amount of outdoor space is notable in New York City. It gives the family a private area beyond the walls of the historic townhouses.
Sarah Jessica Parker has long been associated with Manhattan. Her former West Village apartment became closely linked with her glamorous New York image.
The Renovation Has Come With a Huge Price Tag
It has taken years for the two properties to become the couple’s planned mega-mansion. Hello! reported that the project was still believed to be under construction or nearing its final stages at the time of its article.
The renovation is also expected to cost a staggering amount.
According to Hello!, the couple hired Morris Adjimi Architects for the work. The renovation has been estimated at more than $50 million.
That figure comes on top of the original purchase price. Together, the property and renovation represent a major investment in Manhattan real estate.
The finished home is expected to retain an imposing exterior. Inside, however, the two original townhouses will function as one expansive residence.

The West Village project is not the couple’s only notable property purchase.
According to Hello!, Parker and Broderick bought a newlywed townhouse for $3 million in 2000.
They also previously owned a Greek Revival-style townhouse in Greenwich. In 2005, the couple bought a vacation property in Amagansett, Long Island, for $6.6 million. Parker later described the home as somewhere they wanted to “truly feel like a home.”
The couple’s current Manhattan project is considerably larger. Still, the basic idea remains similar. Parker and Broderick are creating a private family home that reflects how they want to live.
