Kim Kardashian once claimed that she would never get a tattoo. However, that changed in 2021 after she hosted “Saturday Night Live.” The reality star marked the occasion by getting a hidden tattoo, one that’s on the inside of her lip.
While appearing on “The Tonight Show” on Thursday, September 25, Kim opened up about her sly ink.
“I was well-known for always saying, ‘You should never put a bumper sticker on a Bentley,'” she told Jimmy Fallon during her interview. She added, “Tattoos were against my ethos. I got it in my mouth so that no one would see it, but I got it with all my friends — an infinity symbol, all of my girls came to support.”
When asked by the host if it hurt to get the tattoo done, Kim replied, saying, “It didn’t! I have a really high pain tolerance.”
Fallon also asked if she “ever forgets” that she has the tattoo on her inner lip. She admitted, “I do. It’s so funny because sometimes I’ll be flossing and then I’ll see something dark in my mouth and I’ll be like, ‘Oh my God, what is that!’ And then I’m like, ‘Oh wait, that’s just my tattoo.'”
Kim Revealed Her Lip Tattoo On Her Family’s Show
GettyKim may have gotten her tattoo in 2021, however, she didn’t reveal it until two years later. While appearing on her family show, “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” in November 2023, the star showed off her ink.
“You guys, something you don’t know about me,” Kim said while getting her hair done by stylist Chris Appleton, per People. She then revealed the tattoo.
When Appleton asked when she had the body art added to her lip, she told him, “The night of SNL, when I hosted SNL, me and all my friends got matching tattoos, and everyone got them on their hands, and I was like, ‘There is not a shot that I will get a tattoo,'” she explained. Of course, she then changed her mind and opted for the hidden ink.
Kendall Jenner Also Has a Hidden Tattoo
Kim isn’t the only sibling from the reality TV family who has a hidden tattoo. In fact, she’s not the only one who has a tattoo on the inside of her lip. Kendall Jenner also has one.
The younger sister has the word “meow” tattooed on her. While appearing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in March 2018, Kendall opened up about getting the ink, admitting, “I was drunk! I was not thinking clearly.”
When it comes to why she got “Meow” tattooed on her, she explained, “[It] was literally the first thing that came to my mind. … I don’t know. Just like, my drunk thoughts.”
Just like Kim, Kendall didn’t think the tattoo was painful. She explained, “It’s just, like, fattiness. I don’t even know what this is. Is it muscle? Fat? Like, bone hurts really bad.”
