A sweet Christmas video has given fans the festive feels: Taylor Momsen shared a short clip of herself trying on her Cindy Lou Who costume, the same one she wore as a child when she filmed “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” in 2000.
Taylor Momsen Gets Festive
GettyMomsen posted the video on Instagram on Monday, December 22. In the clip, she tries on the dress with the help of an assistant, and remarkably, it still fits, albeit it took some effort to get it on, especially with the sleeves. She shared her thoughts in the caption, writing, “Yes…that is my real Cindy costume from the Grinch movie. 25 years later…it still (kind of) fits what a surreal holiday season #whereareyouchristmas.”
Fans have flooded the comment section with messages of support. “I love that you’re fully embracing this,” a comment reads. “Your embrace of your past makes us reflect on our inner child. We all have a Cindy Lou Who inside us,” another fan shared.
Other reactions include, “I love this so much!!!,” “This whole fashion design is insanely on point with Cindy Lou Who all grown up. It even has an Alice in Wonderland theme happening in the design. Of course, only you, Cindy Lou Who could bring her back to life rockin’ all the way,” and “This is incredible, what a surreal full circle moment for you.”
Taylor Momsen Reflects on Filming the ‘Grinch’
Getty“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” is an iconic Christmas movie and for many a classic that is watched each year. Momsen has fond memories of starring in the film alongside Jim Carrey. In an interview with Today in December 2020, she said, “I think that people love The Grinch just simply because the core of the story is so sweet and it’s so heartwarming, and it has such a good message. That no matter what age touches your heart, I think that that’s an amazing thing to be a part of.”
GettyShe continued, “The fact that it comes back around every year — I think it’s something to look forward to. And I think it just kinda brings happiness and joy to anyone who watches it.”
She also praised the experience of working with Carrey, referring to him as “kind” but also “so methodical,” and said that his acting process had been inspiring to her as a young actress.

Just a must watch movie EVERY YEAR ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I’ve watched already it’s so great! Luv Jim carrey
The way the image and article title are, it seemed like this article would be about Jim Carrey trying on the Grinch suit years later, not Cindy Lou Who- still, happy for her, just the title was a bit deceiving in my opinion
