Meghan Trainor Reveals the Health Scare Behind Her 60-Pound Weight Loss

Meghan Trainor has sparked widespread discussion with her recent weight loss. Now, ahead of her new album, the “All About That Base” singer and former “American Idol’ advisor is opening up about what led her to shed the pounds and how she feels about the backlash she’s received.

Trainor recently appeared on Los Angeles’ 104.3 MYfm to promote her latest single, “Sill Don’t Care.” While on the show, she opened up about what motivated her to change her lifestyle. She began, “It started with when I was pregnant and I had gestational diabetes.”

She continued, “I was like, ‘Oh, I’ve got to learn about health and fitness if I want to tour forever. I’ve got to be at my strongest if I want to lift up my kids from their crib and not pull out my back.'” The singer added, “I just want to feel good because this job is hard to do if you don’t feel good.”

Meghan Trainor Also Opened Up About the Backlash

The radio interview continued, and Trainor began to open up about some of the backlash she has received, saying it “rattled” her. According to her, “I got a lot of hate for being thinner. It’s weird—I’m finally so proud of myself and starting to love myself, and I’ve never gotten more hate.”

She went on, “I was confused, lost, really sad, and heartbroken that I took care of myself, but everyone’s angry. Everyone was like, ‘Why are you thin now? You’re ‘All About the Bass’ girl.’ I was 19 when I came out with that song, and I’ve been on a fitness journey since.”

The interviewer asked Trainor about how she copes with the hate she receives. The Grammy-winning singer explained, “My therapist is like, ‘You give these strangers so much power.’ I hate it when she says that because I was like, ‘Ew! I don’t want to give strangers power. I want to have my own power and not care.'”
