Scheana Shay is telling her side of what went wrong between her and longtime friend Lala Kent.
Just days after Kent opened up about their falling out during “The Valley” Season 3 reunion, Shay responded on the Aug. 14 episode of her “Scheananigans” podcast. And while Kent pointed to one private conversation that spiraled beyond its intended audience, Shay says their friendship had been breaking down for much longer.
“This wasn’t about one isolated incident, but it was a pattern that went on for years,” Shay said. “Even now, I’m continuing to learn about things that were happening behind the scenes that were hurtful and damaging to both me and my relationships.”
Scheana Shay Says the Friendship Fallout Was Years in the Making
During Peacock’s extended, uncensored version of “The Valley” reunion, Kent publicly explained what she believed ultimately fractured her friendship with Shay.
As EntertainmentNow previously reported, Kent said she privately discussed information Shay had shared in her 2025 memoir, “My Good Side,” about husband Brock Davies having a “brief affair” while Shay was pregnant in 2020.
Kent said she discussed the situation with friend Jenna Willis while trying to explain Shay’s behavior toward her. According to Kent, the conversation was supposed to remain private, but Willis later repeated the information to “The Valley’s” Zack Wickham.
Once Kent realized the information had spread, she said she contacted Shay directly and pleaded with her to keep the matter between them.
“Please don’t take this to the streets. Let’s work this out between us,” Kent recalled telling Shay during the reunion. “And she kept talking about it. My heart is so [expletive] broken.”
Shay, however, says the book controversy does not tell the full story of their breakup.
Although she acknowledged that Kent’s lack of support surrounding her book was “frustrating,” Shay said she had continued trying to protect Kent and preserve their friendship behind the scenes.
“I genuinely wanted to keep our friendship intact,” she said. “And looking back, that was actually like a really lonely experience.”
Shay said the book situation only “fueled a deeper and more painful pattern” between them and made her feel “spoiled, ungrateful toddler.”
Scheana Says She Tried ‘Many, Many Times’ to Repair Things With Lala
Shay also addressed Kent’s emotional comments about her during “The Valley” reunion.
When Andy Cohen observed that Kent seemed to miss her former friend, Kent replied, “I don’t recognize her right now.”
Shay acknowledged that she has changed, but said that change was intentional.
“I’m no longer the girl who had no boundaries, who let people walk all over her, treat me poorly, and then just accepted it because I wanted to keep the peace,” Shay said. “I’ve done a lot of work on myself.”
According to Shay, she made repeated attempts to salvage the relationship before eventually deciding it was no longer healthy for her.
“And I just feel like there comes a point when you realize that you’ve exhausted every avenue and you have to accept that someone just wasn’t capable of being the kind of friend that you needed,” she said. “I don’t believe that friendship was healthy. And I don’t believe it was rooted in someone who truly wanted the best for me.”
“That friendship was only hurting me,” Shay added. “And that’s not the kind of friendship I want to be in.”
Shay also addressed the contrast between forgiving Davies for his affair and not moving past her issues with Kent, insisting they are “two completely different situations.” She said rebuilding trust requires everyone involved to acknowledge what happened and take accountability.
“You can’t truly move forward from something until everyone involved is willing to acknowledge what happened, take accountability for their part, and show growth,” Shay said.
For now, the former friends seem to have very different perspectives on how their relationship reached its breaking point. Kent said at the reunion that she still hoped they could eventually repair their friendship. Shay’s latest comments suggest she has reached a very different place.

Scheana took a lot of crap from the female cast on vpr. She was very much a people pleaser and Lala is a for show person
Adam himself has said Lala is completely different off tv than on. As formthe men getting involved Lala is over the top nasty and she bullies other females and she intimidated them so if their husband see’s their wife stressing due to a bully then yes they have a right to protect their family and I don’t have a husband.
