When New Kids on the Block burst onto the music scene in the late 1980s, they didn’t just release hit songs. The group created a pop culture movement. The Boston-based boy band, which is made up of Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, and Danny Wood, became teen idols almost overnight.

Fans loved their infectious lyrics, coordinated choreography, and undeniable charisma. Now, decades later, the boy band is still performing together, proving their staying power goes way beyond ‘80s nostalgia.

The Boys Are Back Together

NKOTB rose to fame thanks to their albums like “Hangin’ Tough” and “Step by Step.” These albums brought us chart-topping singles, like “You Got It (The Right Stuff)” and “I’ll Be Loving You (Forever).”

At their peak, they were selling out arenas, dominating MTV, and their Teen Bop posters were plastered across bedroom walls worldwide. They helped to shape the modern boy band formula and helped pave the way for other acts to follow them in the 1990s and beyond.

The fellas rode their success for a few years, but broke up in 1994. However, in 2008, they reunited and haven’t looked back since. Today, NKOTB continues to tour, release new music, and headline major events, including a Las Vegas residency and performing at “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” 2026.

Their loyal fanbase is known as Blockheads. NKOTB has embraced its legacy while also continuing to evolve by blending nostalgia with high-energy performances that both longtime fans and new listeners love.
