Perry Farrell Posts 2nd Apology After Incident with Dave Navarro at Jane’s Addiction Concert Last Year

Music fans, get ready. It seems like nearly a year later, Perry Farrell is finally taking the time to really address what went down at a Jane’s Addiction show that got way out of hand. The 66-year-old frontman shared his second public apology this week following the onstage altercation with guitarist Dave Navarro during the band’s Boston concert in September 2024. Honestly, it’s clear this is a moment he’s been sitting with, and this latest apology feels way more reflective than reactive.

Let’s be real: this wasn’t just a random fight. It was a night that disrupted fans, shook the band, and left a mark on Jane’s Addiction forever; and yeah, it seems like everyone involved is still processing it.

What Went Down at the Boston Show in 2024

So, let’s rewind a bit. Here’s what you need to know. It’s September 13, 2024 in Boston and the band is in the midst of “Ocean Size,” when Perry crosses the stage bumps into Dave Navarro, then hits him. Chaos ensues. The crew and bandmates rush in to break it up. And the show ends early.

Fans are left stunned.

Just days after the incident, Perry issued his first apology through Variety. It was short, but honest, owning up to the disruption and acknowledging that the night went off the rails. No excuses, no blame; just a recognition that the night didn’t go as it should have.

And yep, the band canceled the rest of the U.S. tour, which honestly just shows how serious it was.

Perry Farrell’s Second Apology

Earlier today (December 17, 2025), Perry went a step further on Instagram, and honestly, it feels like he’s putting some real thought into it.

“To everyone in Boston, and around the world. I’d like to address what happened on stage last year. I’ve reflected on it and know I didn’t handle myself the way I should have. I apologize to our patrons and my bandmates for losing my temper and for disrupting the show.”

It seems like he really wanted to stress how central Jane’s Addiction is to his life:

“Jane’s Addiction has been at the center of my life for decades. The band, the songs, the patrons and the impact that we’ve had on music and culture mean more to me than any words I could ever possibly write down.”

And he’s not shying away from admitting the Boston show fell short:

“My aim has always been to give our audience the best possible show, something real, honest and positive. In Boston, we fell short of that, and I’m truly sorry to everyone who was impacted.”

He closes with gratitude for the fans who stuck by the band… and honestly, it’s a reminder that owning up to your mistakes doesn’t make you weak, it makes you human.

Dave Navarro’s Response

Navarro spoke with Guitar Player in May 2025, and honestly, it seems like he’s trying to be fair but also real about the impact.

“There was an altercation onstage, and it all came to a screeching halt and forever destroyed the band’s life. And there’s no chance for the band to ever play together again.”

He also reflected on how well things had been going before the Boston show:

“We were getting along… it was just four guys making great music, just like we did in the beginning.”

Ultimately, he called it his “least favorite gig,” not because of anger but because of the potential lost that night.

An Alternative Perspective

Adding even more context, Farrell’s wife, who was at the show shared a detailed Instagram post, saying she wanted to give a first-person account “rather than speculating.”

Apparently, Perry had been dealing with tinnitus and a sore throat, and felt drowned out by the band’s stage volume. Audience members in the front row shouting at him didn’t help. By the time “Ocean Size” started, he was screaming just to be heard. His wife also explains how band members and crew tried to calm things down, but it wasn’t until afterward that Perry broke down in tears.

Finding a Resolution

On December 17, 2025, Jane’s Addiction also posted a clarification about the cancellation of the shows from that tour. And revealed that the situation has been resolved according to them, with special appreciation given to their fans.

Honestly, it seems like this story isn’t just about one punch. It’s about pressure, frustration, and what happens when long-time creative partnerships hit a breaking point; especially in the entertainment industry. Luckily it seems like the accountability being shown now, from Perry’s apology to Navarro’s reflections and even Jane’s Addiction’s comments are the first step toward making sense of it all. And hopefully everyone can finally move forward in the knowledge that the situation was at least addressed.
