Ralph Macchio Steals the Show With Surprise Coldplay Jumbotron Appearance

In a delightfully nostalgic twist at a recent Coldplay concert in London, Ralph Macchio—best known as Daniel LaRusso from “The Karate Kid”—unexpectedly popped up on the Jumbotron, stealing hearts and cheers from the audience.

The beloved 63-year-old star appeared during the band’s “Music of the Spheres” world tour, delivering a surprise nod to fans of all ages.

The band’s lead singer, Chris Martin, sweetly called the legend out and sang directly to him.

“Well, hello, my beautiful brother Ralph,” Martin began to sing. “It is such a pleasure to know all the films that you did. You are the Karate Kid, and I know you’re gonna beat me up after the show.”

In response, Macchio stood and raised his hands in prayer to thanking Martin for the sweet tribute.

Macchio shared the moment on social media on Wednesday, September 3 and expressed how he had a wonderful time.

“Another dose of magic from the amazing Coldplay – this time with 90,000 friends and my family by my side at Wembley,” he wrote. “Thank you for the memories of a lifetime.”

Fans React

The crowd’s reaction was immediate and enthusiastic.

Social media lit up with clips and screenshots, capturing the moment Macchio’s familiar face beamed down from the massive screen.

One fan jokingly wrote, “You deserve your embarrassment of how much we love you! Stay gold!”

“This is very heartwarming. I love how shy Mr Macchio looked,” another added.

“Cobra Kai” actor Daniel Kim added, “Yeaaa Ralph!!”

Tamlyn Tomita, who played Kumiko in “The Karate Kid Part II” added, “I love him. They love him. We all love him!!” She also added a series of red heart emojis.

Macchio & Coldplay Have History

Macchio previously appeared in Coldplay’s music video for the song “The Karate Kid.”

In the November 2024 video, Macchio is seen lip-syncing during the song in a variety of places until he meets Martin on stage during a concert.

Macchio explained how he came to find the song while appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in November 2024.

Macchio explained that it was his his son who introduced him to the song, and he ended up sharing it to social media.

“I thought it was a beautiful song, so I posted it,” he recalled. “Next day, I’m getting a FaceTime from Chris Martin — never met him in my life.”

During that call, Martin pitched the idea for the video and said that it would need to be shot within the week. Macchio loved the idea and decided to “clear his desk” and go to Australia to film it.
