Music Icon Rod Stewart had to pull the plug on two Las Vegas performances at the last minute. The rock legend, 81, was set to take the stage at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Thursday, May 29, and Friday, May 30, but both shows were called off before the doors even opened. His representative confirmed the cancellations to the Las Vegas Review, citing the doctor’s orders.
Rod Stewart Cancels Shows Due to Sinus Infection but Vows to Return
GettyA statement from his team confirmed the cancellations. According to Fox News, the statement shared with the Las Vegas Review read, “Following his doctor’s advice, Rod Stewart has regretfully canceled his performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on May 29 and 30, but is scheduled to return with shows beginning June 2.”
Stewart then added a personal note of his own, saying, “My apologies to my family of fans,” he said. “I am on vocal rest as I recover from a sinus infection. I look forward to seeing you at a future show at Caesars Palace or on tour this summer.”
Word got out quickly to ticketholders.
GettyOne fan noted on X that the cancellation notification came through at 5:48 p.m., with the show originally set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Rod Stewart Has No Plans to Retire
Stewart put any retirement talk to rest back in 2024. When he announced he was stepping away from large-scale world tours, he made one thing crystal clear.
“This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire,” he shared on social media. “I love what I do, and I do what I love.”
And just to drive the point home. “I’m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.”
Rod Stewart Stays Fit With Sprints, Swimming and a 38-Year Trainer
GettyStaying healthy has always been a priority for Stewart. He opened up about his routine in an interview with AARP. “I keep myself very fit. I played soccer all my life, don’t so much anymore, because I had a knee replacement. And I’ve always had a trainer, same guy for 38 years.”
The routine is no joke. Stewart trains in his indoor pool, where his trainer throws a brick to the bottom and he dives in to push it to the other end. He also runs sprints on his private track.
“I got it down to 19 seconds by learning how to push off,” the “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” singer said in the same interview. “I’m going to try and do 17 seconds, which I think is a world record for an 80-year-old.”
Stewart also runs 100-meter sprints on his private track and has been steadily improving his time.
“I got it down to 19 seconds by learning how to push off,” the “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy” singer said. “I’m going to try and do 17 seconds, which I think is a world record for an 80-year-old.”
For now, Stewart is taking it easy, resting his voice and looking forward to getting back on stage at Caesars Palace on June 2.
