Rod Stewart has canceled his current tour, on the advice of his doctors.
In a statement issued to People, the 81-year-old rock icon has canceled all upcoming dates on his “One Last Time” farewell tour in order to recover from a medical procedure on his heart.
‘Doing Very Well’
According to the statement, Stewart successfully underwent a coronary stent procedure. While the prognosis is good, he’ll need to rest up before taking to the stage again.
“Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities,” the statement said.
“On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage,” the statement continued. “Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates.”
‘Deeply Disappointed’
The singer had been scheduled to remain on the road through to the final tour date on September 3, with a six-date Las Vegas residency slated for later this month.
In the statement, Stewart said he was “already feeling better and very much on the mend.”
He continued by thanking doctors, nurses “and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me,” he said.
“I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down,” he added, “but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon.”
A Series of Health Scares
As People reports, the cancellation announcement arrives just two days after Sir Rod postponed a Cincinnati concert shortly before it was about to begin.
At the time, the reason for the postponement was cited as “an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention.”
A rep for Stewart said the “Maggie May” singer was “expected to make a quick recovery,” with the show rescheduled for August 11.
Prior to that, back in late May Stewart also cancelled some shows in Vegas, insisting he was placed on vocal rest by doctors due to a sinus infection. He then cancelled another Vegas show in early June. “I am sorry to inform you that I’m not feeling well and my show tonight at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace is being rescheduled to June 10,” he shared with fans via Instagram Stories (as reported by People). He then cancelled another show a few days later, this time revealing he was recovering from a flu.
A few weeks later, the one-time “American Idol” guest mentor collapsed in the midst of a show in West Valley Utah. He continued the show while seated, continually inhaling from a tank of oxygen brought to the stage for him.
A Career Built on Determination
If history is any indication, Stewart will eventually overcome his health woes, having demonstrated a remarkable resiliency throughout his life.
“I think determination has always got me through, since I was a little kid,” he recalled in a 2026 interview with Dan Rather. “Determination got me into the music business. Determination got me where I am today.”
During the interview, Stewart also opened up about beating cancer after a malignant polyp was removed from his vocal cords. However, the surgery left him unable to speak, let along sing. “All the [muscle] memory is lost for singing,” he explained. “So it took me about seven or eight months before I could start singing again.”
