The All-American Rejects sparked major fan concern after cancelling their performance at the last minute.
The rock band, who is an opening act for the Jonas Brothers’ “Greetings From Your Hometown,” dropped out just hours before their November 9 concert in New York.
The All-American Rejects Explains Unexpected Move
In an Instagram post, AAR confirmed that they will not be returning for the rest of the tour, citing health concerns for their vocalist, Tyson Ritter.
“Unfortunately, Tyson has to take some vocal rest and we will be stepping away from the remainder of the Jonas Brothers tour,” The All-American Rejects wrote. “His voice needs a little time to bounce back so he doesn’t do any real damage.”
The band continued:
“It’s been such an amazing run, and we are bummed to have to cut it short. Massive love to the JoBros, their crew and everyone who’s been singing along every night. You’ve made this tour something special.”
The All-American Rejects were set to open for the Jonas Brothers for five more shows, including Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Uncasville, and Newark.
Fans Show Love & Support
While fans were disappointed with the sudden cancellation of the band’s show, they also showered them with love and support during such a difficult time.
One fan wrote, “Health and family first! Get better soon, my friend!”
Another commented, “Get well soon mate! I hope they can still play next month for the goodthings festival.”
Someone added, “His health and vocal rest has got to come first. Hoping for a speedy recovery and sending good vibes.”
A solid fan pointed out, “I have been a fan for a very long time, and it’s very, VERY rare that The Rejects raise a flag and say ‘we can’t do this.’ So for Tyson to say ‘I need to rest and take care of myself’ took a lot. So mad respect for being able to put health first. I know they will come back when they’re ready and will come back better than ever.”
Meanwhile, some can’t help but express their dismay over the cancelled shows.
One disappointed fan wrote, “Well, this was not what I wanted to hear today 🙁 was looking forward to seeing you guys tonight!”
Another commented, “Shout out to all of those fans that made international trips to see All American Rejects and have to go home disappointed with a giant hole in their wallet.”
The All-American Rejects are set to perform at the Good Things Festival in Australia on December 6 and 7, as well as at KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas in Los Angeles on December 13.
