Iconic ’90s Band Members Fail to Show Up to Tour Stop: ‘Unforeseen Circumstances’

Wu-Tang Clan fans were not happy after purchasing tickets to the band’s Melbourne, Australia, show only to have four members of the iconic group not show up.

All living members” of the ’90s hip hop group were scheduled to take the stage in Australia on March 25, according to People. However, Method Man, Raekwon, Cappadonna and Young Dirty Bastard failed to make the trip Down Under.

Wu-Tang Clan Fans Respond After Band’s Absence

The “Can It All Be So Simple” artists shared a series of photos from their show in Melbourne to social media on March 17, and fans voiced their grievances.

“Had to run it back 👐” the band captioned the post, which was shared via Instagram.

The comments section was flooded with criticism from fans, many of whom had purchased tickets for the disappointing show.

“Wu Tang (40%) forever, And unfortunately that is your legacy now. Letting fans down,” one follower wrote.

“The worst part was when RZA apologised at the end and proceeded to explain that ‘it’s 23 hours to get to Australia’ so that’s why some didn’t come,” another added.

Others showed their appreciation for the group members who did make the long journey.

“Grateful for the efforts made by the members that made the trip to Australia,” one follower commented. “Bitterly disappointed with lack of effort made by the clan members that didn’t appear, and feeling ripped off based on the way the show was advertised and the nonexistent valid reason for the no-show.”

Yet another faithful fan commented, “I went. Yes a bit let down with no Rae, Meth, Cap and YDB. But still was a great show. 4 star event. I’m glad though I went to the one with Nas a few years ago that was a 5 star event.”

Ticketed Fans Were Offered Refunds

Ticketek, the ticketing company behind the Australian shows, offered to refund fans who no longer wished to attend the concerts.

“We want to make fans aware that due to unforeseen circumstances, a couple of members will be unable to join the remaining tour dates in Melbourne and Sydney,” the company said in a statement to Billboard. “Wu-Tang Clan will be performing and bringing everything that has made them one of the most iconic live acts in hip-hop history.”

The group’s tour, which is marketed as a farewell tour, is set to head to Japan in May before taking a break for the summer. They will pick back up with shows throughout the United States and Canada beginning in August.
