Brandy is officially cemented in Hollywood history, and the moment felt just as powerful as you’d expect.

The Grammy-winning singer was honored with the 2,839th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on March 30, with the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce also declaring it “Brandy Day,” according to Billboard. Surrounded by family, friends and fellow stars, the celebration marked a major milestone in her decades-long career across music, television and film.

Taking the stage, Brandy reflected on how the Walk of Fame inspired her as a child growing up in Los Angeles. “I was just a little girl with a big dream… I’m going to sing my way onto one of these stars. And I did,” she said.

She also shared what the honor represents to her now, calling it more than just a career achievement. “A star on the Walk of Fame is a definition of legacy… It doesn’t just celebrate your success; it cements your story,” she said. “Dreams don’t have an expiration date.”

The ceremony brought out a mix of longtime collaborators, industry icons and close friends who helped celebrate Brandy’s impact.

Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds praised her voice and artistry, recalling how Whitney Houston personally requested Brandy for the “Waiting to Exhale” soundtrack. He described her as having one of the best voices he has ever heard, per Billboard.

Issa Rae also honored Brandy’s legacy, highlighting how her work across music and acting helped shape the culture. Referencing her roles in “Moesha” and “Cinderella,” Rae said, “Brandy was and is the blueprint.”

The moment turned into a true celebration of her journey, with attendees including her daughter, parents, Monica, Kehlani and members of the “Moesha” cast showing up to support her.

Reflecting on Legacy, Growth and What’s Next

As she steps into this next chapter, Brandy is also looking back on the journey that brought her here.

In a recent interview, she opened up about being called the “Vocal Bible,” admitting the title once felt like pressure. “The title disturbed me… The pressure of that is a lot,” she said, adding that she now sees it as “validating and very, very nice,” per Variety.

Since her debut album “Brandy” in 1994, she has built a career that spans generations, from chart-topping music to her breakout role on “Moesha” and her history-making turn as Cinderella. She also continues to evolve creatively, sharing that she is still “dreaming big.”

That reflection continues in her upcoming memoir “Phases,” set for release March 31. In the book, Brandy revisits deeply personal moments, including her final conversation with Whitney Houston. She recalled Houston encouraging her to stay true to herself, telling her, “Never let anyone else tell you who you are,” per BET.

As Brandy celebrates this major honor and looks ahead, the moment stands as both a reflection of her legacy and a reminder of her journey. “I stand grateful, humbled, inspired… and most of all, I stand as living proof,” she said.
