Oliver “Power” Grant, the founder of the iconic hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan, tragically passed away, and more details have come out regarding his death.
At the time of his passing, a cause of death was not disclosed, but in a statement from his family and the Wu-Tang Clan on Feb. 28, they revealed that Grant passed away after a “courageous and hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.”

In the statement that was shared on social media, the Wu-Tang Clan paid tribute to Grant, remembering him as “a true fighter until the end.” They went on to add that he “was surrounded by his mother, his children, his family, and his closest friends.”
He grew up in Staten Island, New York, known as “Power,” however his oldest friends called him “Pookie.”
“From those streets, he rose to become a visionary force, a pillar of the Wu-Tang family, and a global architect of culutre,” they wrote. “It was the honor of his life to pour his love, wisdom, and brilliance into his family and his community. His impact was singular; there will never be another to take his place.”
“The Grant and Wu-Tang families are profoundly thankful for the overwhelming outpouring of love and support from around the world. As we navigate this period of deep mourning, we kindly ask for continued respect and privacy for the family,” they continued. “We send peace and blessings upon his soul. Power will always be loved, and his legacy will forever remain.”
