Amy Schumer Opens Up About Managing Her Cushing Syndrome
GettyFor the past few years, Schumer has been refreshingly honest about her health, including her experience with GLP-1 medications. She first turned to them in part to help manage her Cushing syndrome, a hormonal condition she was diagnosed with in 2024. Her early experience was a rough one.
Speaking on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” in 2023, she recalled how one medication made her too sick to keep up with her young son.
“Like, a year ago, I tried it. I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son. I was so skinny, and he’s throwing a ball at me and [I couldn’t],” she shared, as quoted by People.
GettyBy March 2025, she told her followers that a switch had made a real difference and that she was feeling more energetic. True to form, she kept the update candid and unfiltered.
That kind of honesty is exactly what fans have come to love about Schumer. While many stars keep these struggles private, she has never shied away from sharing the full picture, side effects and all.
Looking Ahead After a Year of Change
GettyThe milestone birthday caps off a year of big changes for Schumer. In early 2026, she and her husband, chef Chris Fischer, announced they were ending their seven-year marriage.
“Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after seven years,” she wrote on Instagram at the time, as per Independent. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son.”
The couple, who wed in a Malibu ceremony in 2018, share a young son. Schumer asked for privacy and closed her message on a warm note: “Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”
Even after a year of transition, Schumer says she is in a better place than ever. “I feel happier than I’ve ever been before,” she said.
