The apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Apple Martin, the 22-year-old daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, is officially stepping into her own spotlight with a major acting debut. The recent Vanderbilt graduate has landed a role in Nancy Meyers’ upcoming comedy, marking her first feature film and a clear next step in her evolving creative career.
According to Page Six, Martin will star alongside Tony Hale and Beverly D’Angelo in the Warner Bros. project, joining an already stacked cast that includes Penélope Cruz, Jude Law, Owen Wilson, Kieran Culkin and Erin Doherty. The casting also brings a subtle full-circle moment, as several of her co-stars have previously worked with her Oscar-winning mom on films like “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” “The Royal Tenenbaums” and “The Good Night.”
Martin shared her excitement about the opportunity on Instagram Stories, writing, “Dreams come true!!! Thank you @nmeyers for taking a chance on me.”While plot details are still under wraps, Nancy Meyers has described the project as a semi-autobiographical story “about a group of people making a film and the magic and mystery of what we do,” according to Deadline. The film also marks Meyers’ first project since “The Intern” in 2015 and is currently slated for a Dec. 25, 2027 release.
From Law School Plans to Acting Dreams
Martin’s acting debut comes shortly after a major shift in her career path.
After graduating from Vanderbilt University with a degree in law, history and society, she revealed earlier this year that she no longer plans to attend law school. Instead, she is choosing to pursue acting full-time.
“I was in that rebellious ‘I don’t wanna be like my parents’ type of phase,” she said in a previous interview, explaining why she initially considered a different path, per People. That perspective has since changed, with Martin now leaning into her creative interests.
“I love dancing and I love acting… My dream is to act,” she said, making her goals clear.
Although she explored the idea of becoming a lawyer, she admitted part of the appeal came from its performative aspect. “If I’m a lawyer, I can perform on the stage in a trial setting,” she joked, even referencing Elle Woods as an inspiration.
Throughout college, Martin stayed connected to the arts, participating in her school’s cabaret theater group while balancing her academic workload. The experience helped reinforce her decision to pursue acting after graduation.
A Creative Path Already Taking Shape
Even before her big-screen debut, Martin has been quietly building a creative résumé across multiple industries.
In October 2025, she made her music debut with the release of “Satellites,” a collaboration with rock duo Jade Street. According to Stardust magazine, the band credited her vocals with transforming the track, saying, “Her voice instantly reframed the entire song and gave it a whole new identity.”
The song was released alongside a music video featuring a live performance in Nashville, where Martin gained confidence in the studio process. “The moment she settled in, everything just clicked… watching her find her footing and then completely own the performance was incredible,” the duo shared.
Outside of music, Martin has also made a name for herself in the fashion world, working with brands like Chanel and Chloé. Her only previous on-screen role was a small appearance in the HBO series “Rooster,” making this upcoming film a major leap forward in her acting career.
With a high-profile project, a notable cast and a clear vision for her future, Martin’s transition into acting is already gaining momentum. As she put it simply, “My dream is to act.”
