Legendary Oscar Winner Dame Judi Dench Is Digging Deep Into Her Past as She Opens Up to the Public

Beloved British actress Dame Judi Dench has an exciting new memoir on the way.

On March 3, via book publisher St. Martin’s Press, the Academy Award winner, 91, announced the book will be called “Is It Too Late to Make a Run For It?”

The memoir was co-written by Dench’s long-time friend and collaborator Brendan O’Hea. It will recount the storied life and career of the legend of stage, television, and cinema.

People have exclusively revealed the book’s cover, as well as details about what the book’s content will be, and its potential release date.


Dame Judi Dench’s New Book Will Release This Fall

It’s been revealed that Dame Judi Dench’s new memoir is set to hit bookstores this fall. However, the exact release date has yet to be disclosed.

The book’s synopsis states it will provide Dench’s fans with countless stories from her personal life and glittering career. It will start all the way back at the star’s earliest school productions, and go all the way up to her famous role as “M” in the iconic “James Bond” movie franchise.

Dench’s previous collaboration with Brendan O’Hea came on her 2024 book “Shakespeare: The Man Who Pays the Rent.” In that one, the actress reflected on the many Shakespearean roles she’s played throughout her career.

It was Dench and O’Hea’s work on that project that alerted them to the idea of delving even deeper into Dench’s amazing life.


Dench’s Filmography Is Incredible

Per IMDb, Dench’s memorable appearances in movies and on television are abundant, to say the least.

On the big screen, her many notable credits include 1985’s “A Room with a View,” 1997’s “Mrs Brown,” 2000’s “Chocolat,” 2001’s “Iris,” 2005’s “Mrs Henderson Presents,” 2006’s “Notes on a Scandal,” 2013’s “Philomena,” and 2021’s “Belfast.” The Bond flicks she’s appeared in are 1995’s “GoldenEye,” 1997’s “Tomorrow Never Dies,” 1999’s “The World Is Not Enough,” 2002’s “Die Another Day,” 2006’s “Casino Royale,” 2008’s “Quantum of Solace,” 2013’s “Skyfall,” and 2015’s “Spectre.”

Her notable small screen credits include the sitcom “A Fine Romance,” the sitcom “As Time Goes By,” and the children’s series “Angelina Ballerina.”

In addition to her Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, which she won for playing Queen Elizabeth in 1998’s rom-com “Shakespeare in Love,” Dench has been the recipient of a Tony Award, two Golden Globe Awards, four British Academy Television Awards, six British Academy Film Awards, and seven Olivier Awards.

Needless to say, her memoir will be an amazing read.


Dench Has Endured Sight Issues in Recent Years

In a 2025 interview with ITV, Dame Judi Dench revealed she’s been struggling with sight issues in recent times.

Dench said, “I can’t see anyone. I’ve got, you know, that thing. I can’t recognize anybody. I can’t see the television, I can’t see to read.”

However, she still manages to get out and about. On January 28 this year, she attended the premiere of Prime Video’s “Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision,” at Windsor Castle.

It’s unknown if she’ll do any publicity interviews or press tours with regards to her new memoir. We really hope she manages to.

In the meantime, we’ll look forward to “Is It Too Late to Make a Run For It?” hitting bookstores. Make sure you go out and buy it!
