James Bond is one of the most iconic names in all of cinema. For many, rewatching the classics is an annual tradition, and now some of them are headed to Netflix. This news comes ahead of the upcoming James Bond film, which is yet to enter production.
According to Variety, four James Bond movies will begin streaming on the platform on January 15. They are “No Time to Die,” “Die Another Day,” “Quantum of Solace,” and “Skyfall.” These movies will stream on the platform for three months.
Currently, James Bond movies stream on Prime Video for two months each year. This happens around Bond day, which is in October.
Amazon Aquired the Rights to James Bond in 2022
MGM distributed the James Bond franchise since 1981. From there, Amazon acquired MGM, forming Amazon MGM. This game gave the company the right to distribute the film, and it gained creative control in early 2025, NPR reported.
Recently, Chris Ottinger, Head of Worldwide Distribution at Amazon MGM Studios, spoke about the acquisition.
He said, “When Amazon acquired MGM, Amazon’s plan was to continue licensing MGM’s iconic library to streaming and television partners around the world. Bringing these iconic films and shows to Netflix is part of that continued strategy.
James Bond remains one of the most enduring and influential franchises in cinematic history, and alongside other beloved titles in our library like Hunters, among other series, this agreement reflects the continued global appetite for premium storytelling and the strong working relationship we’ve built with Netflix.”
James Bond isn’t the only Amazon MGM property heading to Netflix. Others are “Rocky,” “Creed,” and the “Legally Blonde” movies.
The Upcoming Movie Is Expected in 2028
Amazon MGM announced the upcoming James Bond movie in June 2025. Denis Villeneuve will direct the film. He told Variety, “Some of my earliest movie-going memories are connected to 007. I grew up watching James Bond films with my father, ever since ‘Dr. No’ with Sean Connery. I’m a die-hard Bond fan. To me, he’s sacred territory.”
He continued, “I intend to honor the tradition and open the path for many new missions to come. This is a massive responsibility, but also, incredibly exciting for me and a huge honor. Amy, David, and I are absolutely thrilled to bring him back to the screen. Thank you to Amazon MGM Studios for their trust.”
There have been no official casting announcements for the movie. Per Deadline, the hope is to cast an unknown British actor for the beloved character.
