Well-Known Radio Host Passes Away at 76- He Will Be Missed

Legendary British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) host Dave Jamieson has sadly passed away at the age of 76. Not only was he a staple on the station and various others, but he also made a name for himself on Boom Radio, leaving a real mark with listeners. Now that he has passed, tributes are pouring in.

The official Boom Radio Facebook account announced Jamieson’s passing with an emotional post. They wrote, “We are so sorry to share the news of the death of Dave Jamieson. He was 76. Dave was with Boom since the start and most recently hosted our Sunday morning programme – after a lifetime on the air.”


Tributes Are Pouring In For Dave Jamieson

Jamieson had a decades-long career in broadcasting, including some off-camera TV presenting. Because of this, many of his fans are flocking to social media to pay tribute to his legacy.

One person wrote on Facebook, “I’m gutted. Dave was one of my best friends back in the BRMB days. I helped him on many occasions to write questions for his Six of the Best Quiz. I last spoke to him at Christmastime. RIP, my old friend. Love you.”

Another person said, “So so sad. I always caught the end of his show before Rod came on air on a Sunday Morning. Previously on a Saturday too, ended his show before going off to the supermarket before handing over to Twiggy. Condolences to all his family, friends, and Boom Crew. Sleep tight, Sir, and Thank You.”

Someone else wrote, “So sorry to hear this sad news. Dave was one of the radio greats, starting his career in hospital radio in Edinburgh. I’ve many happy memories of working with him on Heriot-Watt Student Television – he was on the Electrical Engineering course and I was doing a Business Organisation degree. We’re all going to miss your dulcet tones, Dave. Rest in Peace, my friend.”


His Legacy Will Live On

According to Boom Radio, Jamieson was born in Edinburgh and began his broadcasting career while in his mid-teens with hospital radio. From there, he was a part of the early days of BBC local radio. Notably, he worked at the company’s first station in Leicester.

Jamieson also appeared on Radio 1 Club, BBC Scotland, Birmingham’s BRMB, and he helped launch  Radio Clyde in Glasgow and Coventry’s Mercia Sound. Regarding television, Jamieson also served as an announcer on ATV.

Later, he joined Boom Radio in 2021 as part of the station’s launch. Jamieson will be missed!
