The music world is in mourning as legendary hip hop artist and SiriusXM DJ Lord Sear has sadly passed away. Many fans will remember him as one of the hosts on Eminem’s Shade 45 channel, but he got his start DJing for rapper Kurious. There are conflicting reports about his age, but he was in his early 50s.
SiriusXM announced Sear’s passing on the afternoon of March 11. At the time of writing, there is no known cause of death.
Also on March 11, 2026, EntertainmentNow reported that Eminem’s grandmother had died.

Sear was more than just a popular SiriusXM host and DJ. Instead, he was a fixture in the world of hip-hop. Because of this, many of his fans are paying tribute to his legacy.
Eminem took to his official Instagram account on March 11 to pay tribute to Sear. He said, “Sear was one of the greatest people to be around, I will never forget how he made me laugh on our tour together. Our time on @shade45 together was always some of my favorite interviews. He made the world a better place, and I’m gonna seriously miss that. Rest in peace Lil Trey aka @LordSear!!!”
Shade45 posted on X. They said, “WE ARE SAD TO REPORT THAT OUR DEAR FRIEND AND HOST, LORD SEAER HAS PASSED AWAY AT AGE 53. SEAR WAS MORE THAN A VOICE ON THE RADIO.
HE WAS A FORCE, A FRIEND, AND FAMILY TO SO MANY OF US! IN HIS HONOR, PLEASE TUNE IN TOMORROW FROM 12–4PMET/9AM-1PMPT ON SHADE 45, WHERE FRIENDS WILL COME TOGETHER DURING HIS SLOT TO SHARE MEMORIES.

The Okayplayer X account wrote, “We are saddened to announce the passing of Lord Sear, legendary NY hip-hop voice and longtime Shade 45 host. From Kurious to the Stretch & Bobbito Show, touring on Eminem’s Anger Management, and 20+ years at Shade 45, he shaped the culture at every level. Rest in power, Lord Sear.”
Another X user said, “Damn man, my guy. Lord Sear was a funny dude on the radio, but he was always tapped in with Hip-Hop! Played the classics, played the new shit, played the street shit. Prayers to y’all and his family and friends.”
Lastly, a different fan said, “RIP Lord Sear. One of the DJs that been showing my music love on Sirius XM since 2021. Your loss will be felt. Safe travels.”
He Leaves Behind A Vast Legacy
According to Vibe, Sear first gained fame as a touring DJ for rapper Kurious. Later, he became one of the personalities on the iconic radio show “Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show” on WKCR in the early 1990s. Notably, the show helped introduce acts such as Jay-Z, Nas, and Wu-Tang Clan.
Regarding his time with SiriusXM, Sear began in the early 2000s on the Shade45 show “The All Out Show.” He later hosted “The Lord Sear Special.”
