“Bring It On” was released on August 25, 2000, and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film, Gabrielle Union made a post on Instagram reflecting on the experience.
Gabrielle Union Takes a Trip Down Memory Lane
Union was one of the leads and played the role of Isis, the cheer captain of East Compton High School Clovers. Her team were the rivals of the Toros from Rancho Carne High School, where Kristen Dunst’s character was the cheer captain.
The film is fondly remembered, and Union discussed this in a short video clip on Instagram. She thanked fans for their continued support for the film and commented on how “grateful” she was. The clip also shared videos of fans in Clovers and Toros cheer outfits, giving a glimpse into the tremendous impact that this “instant classic” has had.
In her caption, Union shared how the cheer “spirit lives on” even 25 years later. “Twenty-five years later and this film is still bringing it and that’s all thanks to each and every one of you,” she wrote. “Back then, I never would’ve imagined stepping into the East Compton Clover uniform would bring so many blessings. It truly is the gift that keeps on giving.”
She continued, “All I can say is: keep bringing it, because we’ll forever be here for it.” Union ended her message with a tribute to Natina Reed whom she referred to as “our forever Clover.“ Reed appeared in the film but died in October 2012.

Will ‘Bring It On’ Make a Comeback?
Will fans ever get to see Union reprise her role? She’s clearly still passionate about the film and her character. In January 2023, Union told Variety that the possibility of a sequel has not been ruled out. “We’ve been developing a sequel forever,” Union said. “But for folks who don’t exactly understand how long development can take in Hollywood, that could be five minutes or 50 years.”
