Almost one year after actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, passed away in their New Mexico home, the Santa Fe residence was put on the market for $6.25 million. Now, just 11 days after being listed, the compound has found an interested buyer.
According to the Daily Mail, the “property has been listed as ‘pending’ by the brokerage house Sotheby’s International Realty; that means the seller has accepted a buyer’s offer, and they are working through the final steps like inspections, appraisals, and loan approvals before the sale officially closes.”
Beyond that, Tara S Earley, a colleague of Ricky Allen at Sotheby’s, confirmed the pending status of the home to the Daily Mail.
The Home Was Expected to See A Lot of Interest
Despite the fact that Hackman and Arakawa passed away in their Santa Fe home, it was still expected to stir up a fair share of interest. In fact, an agent told the Daily Mail that the large home could bring in more than the initial listing price.
A four-bedroom abode that boasts a Southwestern vibe, an agent at Coldwell Banker told the Daily Mail, “The home is big, stylish and has great bones so there will be interest. Even though two people passed away in the house, there will still be plenty of offers.”
Along with sitting on a hilltop with views of the Rocky Mountains, the home is located in a gated community — all aspects that would draw in more potential buyers.
The Home Is Located in an Area Known as a ‘Retreat’ for Celebrities
CanvaHackman’s Santa Fe, New Mexico house — which he bought back in the 1990s and lived in with Arakawa during their entire marriage — is found in an area that is recognized as a retreat for both creative residents and celebrities alike, according to the Daily Mail. On top of that, it’s no where near the hustle and bustle of show business.
That’s why the actor and his wife were able to live a quiet and private life at their home, per Realtor.com.
During their time in the house, the pair had completed various updates, which is why it was said to have boasted many modern details. One of those upgrades was floor-to-ceiling windows that allow those inside to see the nature around the abode.
At the same time, some work was needed to bring the home back to tip-top shape, which the potential buyer is surely ready to handle along with Hackman’s estate.
