An actor from the beloved ’90s Christmas film “Home Alone” has been rushed to the hospital after suffering a medical emergency, TMZ reports.
The outlet learned on October 14, 2025, that Daniel Stern, best known for his role as “Marv” in the holiday franchise, was rushed to the emergency room earlier this month, but he’s now recovering. Read on for details.
‘Home Alone’ Actor Is ‘Doing Well’ After Hospital Trip
The TMZ report says Stern’s emergency happened on October 7, and the cause of the medical incident is unclear. It is known that the Ventura County Fire Department responded to a home in Somis, California, which is located 54 miles from Los Angeles.
The fire department revealed the actor received a preliminary assessment by firefighters before being transported to the hospital. He has since been released and is “doing well,” according to the story.
Fans will remember Stern’s “Home Alone” character for making up one half of the pair of burglars who attempt a robbery on the McCallister family’s home after Kevin’s parents leave for a Christmas vacation.
In an unforgettably hilarious movie moment, Marv slips and lands under a shelf of open paint cans which splash all over him. Another win for Macaulay Culkin‘s character.
Daniel Stern Spoke Out Earlier This Year About His Career and New Book
Stern, also known for the “City Slickers” series, greeted CBS’s crew on his farm in California. The actor released his book, “Home and Alone,” in May 2024.
He told CBS his Hollywood success has its roots in a simple upbringing in Maryland. “My dad’s a social worker, my mom’s a teacher. They made me believe I could do it. That instilling of ‘you can do it, you can handle yourself’ I mean what’s the worst that can happen?” he explained.
He joked that after getting inebriated with his new friends in New York City, he decided showbiz was the life for him. Stern also shared an anecdote about the late Robert Redford, who died in September 2025 at 89.
Stern recalled, “He caught me one day. I was just waiting for my shot, for my turn to do my line. And he said, ‘Do you know what lens we’re on?’ And I said, ‘No, what’s the lens?’ And he said, ‘Look man. If this camera is filming both of us, our whole bodies, well now if I cross my legs, I’m showing the audience that I feel like that. But if it’s a closeup, you don’t see any of that.'”
Stern says the lesson from Redford was to integrate the camera into his performance, calling it “a lightbulb that went off.” He added the advice made him realize, “I’m not doing this for me. I’m not doing this as an internal character. I’m doing this for the audience.”
