Jamie Lee Curtis Fights Through Tears Over Charlie Kirk Tragedy

Jamie Lee Curtis grew emotional during a taping of Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast, tearing up as she discussed the impact of a recent shooting that had shaken her. The interview took place only days after the incident.

Curtis sobbed as she reflected on the death of Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old activist and Turning Point USA co-founder who was fatally shot on September 10 at a Utah college. Curtis and Maron recorded the episode only days after the assassination.

“I’m going to bring something up with you just because it’s front of mind,” Curtis said, before mistakenly referring to Kirk as “Charlie Crist,” which she explained was a slip of the tongue linked to Kirk’s “deep, deep belief” in religion.

Curtis admitted she disagreed with many of the victim’s views in life, but spoke compassionately about his humanity.

“I disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say, but I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died, that he felt connected with his faith,” she said through tears. “I still believe he’s a father and a husband and a man of faith.”

Concerns Over Violent Imagery

The actress also addressed her concern about videos of the shooting being circulated online. “I know there is a video of his assassination. I know people who’ve seen it,” Curtis said. “We as a society are bombarded with imagery. We don’t know what the longitudinal effects of seeing those towers come down over and over again, or watching his execution over and over again. I don’t ever want to see this footage of this man being shot.”

Hollywood Voices Call for Compassion

Other Hollywood figures echoed her call for empathy and compassion in the wake of the tragedy. Jimmy Kimmel urged his followers to set aside anger and remember the human cost of violence. “Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human?” he wrote on Instagram. “On behalf of my family, we send love to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence.”

Erika Kirk, widow of the late Charlie Kirk, paid a moving tribute to her husband following his assassination at Utah Valley University.

Sharing a carousel of photos on Instagram, she expressed her grief and reflected on the deep bond they shared. “The sound of this widow weeping echoes throughout this world like a battle cry,” Erika wrote. “I have no idea what any of this means. But baby I know you do and so does our Lord.”

“Rest in the arms of our Lord baby as he blankets you with the words I know your heart always strived to hear, ‘well done My good and faithful servant,'” she added.
