‘Life on Life’s Harshest Terms’: Curtis Opens Up About Grief

Curtis revealed: “Rob and Michelle are her godparents,” she said, referring to her daughter Annie Guest.

Curtis shared that the couple’s deaths came on her daughter Annie’s birthday in December 2025, adding a deeply personal layer of grief to an already painful loss.

Just days later, Annie welcomed her first child, a moment Curtis described as a powerful contrast of sorrow and joy. “life on life’s harshest terms and and life on life’s most beautiful, perfect terms.”

She also reflected on how her daughter has been navigating that emotional weight.

“My beautiful daughter, who loved [the Reiners] — as we all did — managed to be able to metabolize her grief and sadness, as we all have had to do.”

Curtis was among the first to speak out following the tragedy, sharing a message that captured the shock and heartbreak she felt in the immediate aftermath.

In a statement to Variety, Curtis shared she was “numb and sad and shocked about the violent, tragic deaths of [their] dear friends.”

“Our ONLY focus and care right now is for their children and immediate families, and we will offer all support possible to help them. We have lost great friends. Please give us time to grieve.”

In the days that followed, she reflected more deeply on the life the couple built together and the bond they shared.

“I will always remember them as they lived. Passionate. Political. Surrounded by family and friends.

“Rob and Michele were a united team. We all went to Stonehenge to shoot the final Spinal Tap concert. Rob directed. Michele produced. I took this image of their beautiful partnership and love and stunning appreciation that this creative, familial life had led them there. This is an ungraspable tragedy and loss. Pray for strength for their children. The world is bereft without them.”
