NHL Reporter Jessi Pierce Perished in a House Fire
On Saturday, March 21, reports began circulating that a house fire broke out at Pierce’s home in the suburbs of the Twin Cities, according to Bring Me the News.
Emergency calls began coming in just before 5:30 a.m. on Saturday. It wasn’t until after the fire was contained that the bodies of Pierce, her three children, and the family’s dog were discovered inside, the outlet reported.
“The Minnesota Wild organization is heartbroken by the tragic loss of Jessi Pierce and her children,” the local NHL team shared in a statement via Instagram. “Jessi was a kind, compassionate person that cared deeply about her family and those around her. She served as a dedicated ambassador for the game of hockey during her time covering the Wild and the NHL. Jessi and her children will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to their family, friends, and all who knew and loved them.”
Pierce leaves behind a husband, Mike Pierce, with whom she shared children, Hudson, Cayden, and Avery.
Mike was on a “work trip out of town” at the time of the fire, according to sportswriter Mike Russo.
