On Saturday, March 21, a house fire broke out at Pierce’s home in the suburbs of the Twin Cities, according to Bring Me the News.
Authorities responded to the fire just before 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, but it wasn’t until after the fire was contained that the bodies of Pierce, her three children, and the family’s dog were discovered inside.
The local NFL team released a statement following the tragedy, saying, “The Minnesota Wild organization is heartbroken by the tragic loss of Jessi Pierce and her children.”
“Jessi was a kind, compassionate person that cared deeply about her family and those around her. She served as a dedicated ambassador for the game of hockey during her time covering the Wild and the NHL. Jessi and her children will be greatly missed,” the team added. “Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to their family, friends, and all who knew and loved them.”
Jessi was home alone with her children, sons Hudson, 8, and Cayden, 6, and daughter Avery, 4, when the fire broke out. Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire, but have ruled out arson.
“As the White Bear Lake Fire Department investigates the devastating house fire that took the lives of four beloved community members on March 21, 2026…we want to assure the public that we are doing everything we can to find out what led to this tragedy,” the WBLFD shared in an investigation update on Monday, March 23.
The statement continued, “We are in the very early stages of the investigation, and our preliminary findings have not led to any evidence that the fire was set intentionally. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The official cause and further information will be released once the investigation is complete.”
