TLC dropped a preview of the upcoming “90 Day Fiancé” episode that airs on August 9 featuring Paula’s family from Brazil arriving at Thomas’ small apartment for a visit. The highlight of this preview are the house rules that Thomas set for Paula’s family that they must follow while staying with him.
If you’ve been watching season 12, then Thomas’ rules might not surprise you when you view the preview, which you can find on the 90dayfiance Instagram account. In this clip, Thomas stands in front of Paula’s family and explains that they can’t wear shoes in the house, which they easily accept. Then, he explains that he’s extremely sensitive to perfumes, so they can’t use perfumes or products with perfume, including soaps.
This isn’t the first time that Thomas’ sensitivity to scents, particularly perfumes, has come up, as he glued Paula’s perfume closed in an earlier episode after she used some in the apartment. However, the preview makes it seem like Thomas’ house rules could cause a rift between him and Paula’s family, who comment near the end that they never implement rules for guests and instead focus on taking care of guests.
Thomas and Paula Welcome her Family from Brazil
Paula left her family behind when she moved to the United States to be with Thomas, but now her parents, siblings, siblings’ spouses, and nieces are leaving Brazil for the first time to be present at her wedding. The topic comes up throughout episode 12, where Paula and Thomas discuss the visit during their scenes.
Paula and Thomas have clashed about their lifestyles from the time Paula arrived from Brazil. Thomas lives a rather minimalist life in terms of the furniture he keeps in his apartment, which resulted in Paula having what she considers to not be enough room. Meanwhile, Paula enjoys wearing perfume and prefers a vegan diet, which is quite different from the paleo diet that Thomas follows.
Now, it looks like the visit from Paula’s family will add extra tension to the couple, as they’ll be staying in a rather small apartment together, meaning that there will be 10 people trying to exist peacefully in one space. However, you’ll have to wait until episode 13 airs to see how this situation plays out.
Season 12 of ’90 Day Fiancé’ is Filled with Tension

Marissa is having second thoughts about Edward and feels like he might not adjust to her fast-paced lifestyle. Meanwhile, Edward feels pressured by Marissa’s family to be perfect.
Mallorie and Rasit have different views about having children in the future, and for Rasit, not having children is a deal-breaking. As a result, this clash could lead to the end of their relationship, which is something both of them brought up in episode 12.
Josh and Catie have had multiple issues ranging from finances to Catie’s habits of drinking and making out with other people. At the end of episode 12, Catie was wondering if Josh would be willing to have an open relationship after marriage.
As for Mido and Debby, Mido has been forthright about wanting to move to Hollywood for his acting career. Despite advice from an instructor, Mido is against working survival jobs while he tries to find his big break, and the situation puts a lot of stress on Debby.
Ashia and Maxwell face issues with Maxwell getting his visa approved in order to travel to the US, and Ashia’s family holds onto the belief that Maxwell is a scammer.
Annabelle and Shea seem to be in the most stable position among the couples as of episode 12, which featured Annabelle and Shea’s daughter, Allison, addressing their issues and deciding to move forward as a family.
