‘Landman’ Season 2 Timeline Breakdown: How Much Time Has Actually Passed So Far?

“Landman” is heading into its season 2 finale, and the Paramount+ drama has reached a turning point for several major characters. As fans prepare for the last episode of the season, new comments from Jacob Lofland — who plays Cooper Norris — are offering helpful context about how quickly the events of the series are actually unfolding.

The series from “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan follows the high-stakes world of oilfields in Texas, where corporate power plays and on-the-ground danger collide daily. Billy Bob Thornton stars as Tommy Norris, an executive trying to keep his company afloat as new conflicts emerge in rapid succession.

‘Landman’ Season 2 Timeline: Jacob Lofland Explains How Fast the Story Moves

While discussing the show with The Hollywood Reporter, Lofland shared the estimate the cast landed on after filming wrapped — and he explained that season 2 doesn’t take place over months the way some viewers might assume.

“We’ve talked about it. We never really added it up through the season [as we were filming]. But after [we finished] and have talked about it, it’s probably 10 to 15 days. There’s probably a six-week gap in between seasons, so we’ve known the characters for two or three months.”

This also helps explain why so many storylines feel like they escalate quickly. Across season 2, the series has explored rising pressure in the oil business, tension inside the company, and the personal consequences of that world for Cooper and the rest of the Norris family.

‘Landman’ Finale Sets Up Season 3 After Major Late-Season Turn

The fast-paced nature matters even more as season 2 closes, particularly after the show’s late-season developments shifted the power dynamics within M-Tex Oil. One of the biggest shifts came when Cami Miller (Demi Moore) fired Tommy, leaving his future — and the company’s direction — in question going into the finale.

Lofland indicated he’s eager to return for an already confirmed season 3, even without knowing exactly what comes next. He told the outlet he expects the next chapter to pick up strongly after where season 2 left off.

“I’ll tell you personally, I cannot wait to go back and start season 3. I cannot wait. I’m looking so forward to it because of where we left off. Like, the first episode’s going to be awesome. I haven’t read anything, I don’t have any idea what’s coming. But I know it’s going to be awesome just from the setup that we have coming out of season 2.”

The “Landman” season 2 finale drops on Paramount+ on January 18.
