Lauren Sánchez Bezos Has a ‘Slightly Spicy Take’ on Tech

Lauren Sánchez Bezos has an interesting take on technology that you might not have expected. Despite the fact that she’s married to a businessman who often embraces cutting-edge tech, Jeff Bezos, she told People, “Here’s my slightly spicy take: I’m a tech optimist … who still believes in paper at bedtime. Books, not bots. AI can summarize, but it can’t snuggle your babies.”

“I believe wonder builds muscles, curiosity, resilience, and courage,” Sánchez Bezos continued. “Kids’ books aren’t just cute, they’re gym class for the mind and heart.”

She added: “And yes, I’ll beat this drum: Books, not bots. Tech can be brilliant, but attention is precious.”

Sánchez Bezos Has a Second Children’s Book Coming Out

Sánchez Bezos’ comments come as as the mother of three has announced the sequel to her first children’s book which came out in 2024, “The Fly Who Flew to Space,” per People. Her second book will continue the adventures of the series’ main character, Flynn, and be called “The Fly Who Flew Under the Sea.”

“Flynn was born on a flight when a tiny fly buzzed into the cockpit of an aircraft I was flying and my kids worried it got separated from its family,” Sánchez Bezos explained while talking about the tiny character’s origin. “We started imagining the adventure that little stowaway might be on. That became Flynn. Now the running joke at home is: ‘Uh‑oh, where did Flynn get stuck this time?’ A backpack, a school bus, the deep blue … no place is safe from our brainstorms!”

“Flynn is brave and not afraid to get a little lost chasing curiosity,” she explained. “This time Flynn dives under the surface to discover a world we don’t see enough and one that needs us.”

During Flynn’s latest adventure, readers will see him learning about life under the sea. He’ll also find out about the danger oceans face.

The Bezos Earth Fund Has Pledged Millions to Protect the Ocean

As Sánchez Bezos gets ready to release a book about the ocean, the Bezos Earth Fund is taking action to protect the Pacific.

“Here’s the beautiful symmetry: as we reveal the book, the Bezos Earth Fund is announcing a $37.5 million grant to help protect the Pacific and safeguard 835,000 square miles of ocean,” Sánchez Bezos told People. “I’m proud that a story kids will love can sit right next to real action for the planet.”

“The Bezos Earth Fund was established with the largest philanthropic commitment ever to fight climate change and protect nature,” according to the organization’s website. “The $10 billion grant commitment will be disbursed by 2030, the date by which the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals must be achieved. We aim to harness the best of human ingenuity, adaptability, and collective action to create a future in which everyone can thrive.”

“The Fly Who Flew Under the Sea” is set to be published by The Collective Book Studio, an independent press based in Oakland, CA, and distributed by Simon & Schuster. You can pre-order it now or wait until it’s released on March 3, 2026.
