Nicole Brown Simpson, who was the ex-wife of former NFL star O.J. Simpson, was killed on June 12, 1994, outside her Los Angeles home. She was 35. Her sister Tanya Brown carries the memories of her late sibling with her, and she recently made a heartbreaking statement about her loss.

Tanya Brown Mourns Her Sister Nicole Brown Simpson

In an emotional Instagram post on Monday, February 23, Tanya shared a photo of Nicole that she keeps on her fridge. It is attached by a magnet that reads, “blessed.” In the photo, Nicole is looking into the camera, wearing a diamond earring. “The only thing I have of my sister, Nicole is this diamond earring that she was slaughtered in,” Tanya wrote.

Fans are heartbroken by Tanya’s post and have flooded the comment section with messages of support. “I’m so sorry that it’s all you have of nicole.. you deserve to have more … she should have been able to grow old.. been able to watch her children grow… been able to enjoy grandkids. I’m so sorry Tanya!” a comment reads.

“Still a beautiful lady. She has grandkids she’ll never meet,” a second person shared.

Other reactions include, “I am SO sorry. I can’t begin to imagine your pain. Nicole had so much more life left ahead of her when she was so brutally murdered. May she and Ron continue to Rest In Peace,” and “I’m so sorry. How painful.” The comments are also filled with praying hands emojis, as a way to show Tanya support.

Remembering Nicole Brown Simpson

Nicole was murdered along with her friend Ron Goldman. It is a night that has deeply impacted their family’s and one that Tanya has reflected on before, including in an Instagram post on the anniversary of her sister’s death in 2025.

Tanya posted a throwback photo that appears to be of herself and her sister in happier times, playing on the beach. In the caption, she wrote a heartfelt message about losing Nicole and reflected on that night. “Tonight marks 31 years. June 12, 1994, started like any other Sunday at the Brown house. Family was getting ready for a dance recital—something that had become routine,” Tanya wrote. “I chose not to go that day. I just didn’t feel like sitting through one more recital. Looking back now, I wish I had gone.”

She said her mom was on the phone with Nicole about forgotten glasses. Goldman had found them and was going to drop them off at her home. “My mom told Nic not to worry and to pick them up the next day on her run. But Ron—being the kind, selfless man he was—decided to bring them that night,” Tanya recalled. “And because of that, Ron is a hero in my eyes.”

Tanya’s post was not just to remember her sibling and Goldman, but also to raise awareness for domestic violence and how it impacts not only the person experiencing it but their families and beyond. “This is why I continue to hold this candlelight vigil—every year—for Nicole, for Ron, for every survivor, for those we’ve lost, and for those still trapped in silence and fear,” she shared.
