Disney Star Ming-Na Wen Pokes Fun at Influencers in Comical Cooking Video

Ming-Na Wen is showing fans that even making a simple peanut butter and jelly sandwich can become a full production when you’re an influencer. The Disney star took to Instagram in early August 2026 with a hilarious video poking fun at some of the familiar things influencers do while making food content.

And yep, she may have been making a PB&J, but she definitely wasn’t taking the process too seriously.

Ming-Na Wen Has Fans Cracking Up With Her PB&J Video

In the video (seen above), Wen put her own spin on the typical influencer-style cooking video while making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She even included potato chips, which immediately became a topic of conversation among her followers.

Wen captioned the post:

“I don’t think I’ve ever worked harder for a PB&J 😂”

She also gave credit to content creator, Walker Ward, for the idea. And honestly, the comments made it clear that fans were having just as much fun with the video as Wen seemed to be.

One fan joked, “Wen you have the reflexes of a ninja, you can eat food like this. Chun Li from Street Fighter can cook.”

Another wrote, “The tippy tappy of the claws and the look of mild constipation and confusion are pretty accurate.”

A third fan added, “It is completely diabolical. But I only mind with the ones who take themselves too seriously. 😂”

Someone else simply pointed out, “Maintained eye contact the whole time 😂”

Of course, the potato chips couldn’t escape attention.

“Potato chips in a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? WTF Mingna,” one person commented, prompting another fan to defend the combination, “Don’t knock it til you try it! It’s one of my favorite ways to eat a PB&J!”

Several familiar faces also joined in on the fun.

Actress Felicia Day commented, “Ahahahaa.”

Former Yellow Power Ranger Karan Ashley added, “The accuracy. They are all over actors. It’s comic at this point. Like ok, we know you can make a sandwich. Them throwing shit out of frame is the dumbest thing too.”

Hallmark star Holly Robinson Peete said, “It was the fingernail taps for me lol 😂.”

Fellow Marvel alum Simu Liu also chimed in with, “absolutely slain 🤣”

It seems like Wen’s followers were very much on board with her decision to poke fun at the trend rather than take it too seriously.

Ming-Na Wen is Bringing Her Love of Food to Fans

The video also comes as Wen continues sharing food-related content with fans ahead of the release of her new cookbook, “Have You Eaten Yet?

The cookbook, which is currently available for pre-order, is scheduled to be published by Simon & Schuster on October 6, 2026. According to the publisher, the book is:

“A heartfelt collection of stories and recipes from beloved actress and Asian American icon Ming-Na Wen, weaving together her childhood in her family’s Pittsburgh Chinese restaurant with the dishes she now cooks at home for loved ones and friends.”

That connection to food has also become a bigger part of Wen’s online presence. She launched her YouTube channel, “Wen in the Kitchen,” in July, where she has been sharing recipes, cooking tips, and stories from her career.

At the time of this writing, the channel has more than 13,000 subscribers.

And let’s be real, it’s a pretty fun way for fans to see another side of the actress. Wen has spent decades appearing in major movies and television shows, but her cooking videos give viewers a chance to see her in a much more casual setting.

Of course, Wen isn’t slowing down her acting career while she explores her love of food.

Disney fans know her best as the voice of Fa Mulan in “Mulan” and “Mulan II,” along with her cameo in the 2020 live-action “Mulan.” She has also become a major part of the “Star Wars” universe through her work on “The Mandalorian,” “The Book of Boba Fett,” and “Star Wars: The Bad Batch.”

Her long list of credits also includes “ER,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Street Fighter,” “The Batman,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “Stargate Universe.”

Wen is set to appear as Mary Wu in the film “Whatcha Want” on September 12, 2026, according to IMDb, as well as taking the role of Hera in Season 3 of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” which is scheduled to premiere on November 20, 2026. She has three projects including “Better Life,” “Persephone,” and the animated short “Enormous,” on the way.

So, while fans may be getting plenty of cooking content from Wen right now, there is clearly much more coming from the actress. And honestly, seeing her have a little fun with something as simple as making a PB&J makes the whole thing even better.
