Sitcom Star Passes Away Surrounded by Family – Our Thoughts Are With Them

Veteran comedic actor Pat Finn, known for his memorable roles on sitcoms such as “The Middle,” “Seinfeld” and “Friends,” has died at age 60 after a battle with cancer, according to TMZ.

Finn, who brought warmth and humor to screens for decades, passed away Tuesday, December 23, at his home in Los Angeles, surrounded by loved ones.

According to local reports, Finn had been fighting bladder cancer for several years, first entering remission in 2022 before the illness returned and metastasized.

He leaves behind his wife Donna, and their children, Cassidy, Caitlin and Ryan.

Finn’s Impressive Career

Born Patrick Cassidy Finn on July 31, 1965, in Evanston, Illinois, Finn grew up in the Chicago area and developed a passion for performance that would define his life and career.

After graduating from Marquette University, he honed his craft at Chicago’s famed Second City comedy troupe alongside friends including Chris Farley, and eventually made his way into television and film.

Finn first gained notice with guest appearances on shows like “Seinfeld,” playing the harried Joe Mayo, and went on to appear in comedies such as “Murphy Brown” and “3rd Rock from the Sun,” according to IMDb.

But he became perhaps best known to a broad audience for his lasting role as Bill Norwood on the hit ABC sitcom “The Middle,” which he played from 2011 to 2018. He was credited with 23 episodes for the beloved sitcom.

Colleagues and fellow performers reacted with sadness as word of Finn’s death spread.

Comedian Jeff Dye shared a heartfelt tribute on social media.

“I don’t like to be the guy who post pics with celebrities that pass. But this guy wasn’t just a celebrity to me. He was a friend,” he began.

The touching tribute continued, “One of the best dudes I knew with a PERFECT sense of humor. I love you Pat Finn and I’ll see again in the after , we can sing together and shake our heads about all the meannes in the used to be.”

Writer Brian Stack shared a touching throwback video of Finn to social media.

“Heartbroken that our dear friend, Pat Finn, passed away. As kind as he was brilliantly hilarious. This video of him at our Chicago apartment in ‘96, making his baby daughter Cassidy pretend to drive a bus and do karate kicks is priceless. Rest In Peace, Finner. We love you,” he wrote.
