Kate Hudson Teases Collaboration with Mother Goldie Hawn

Kate Hudson revealed what type of project would convince her to work with her mother, Goldie Hawn. Hudson and Hawn have yet to star in a film together, leaving fans wondering what exactly it would take for the two to unite on screen. The actress remarked that it would require a very special film to act alongside Hawn.

A Project Together Would Require ‘Some Real Weight’

While appearing on “Watch What Happens Live,” Hudson answered an audience member’s question about acting with Hawn.

“What would it take for you to collaborate with your mother for your next movie?” asked the attendee. Hudson responded with a prepared answer as she explained that she and Hawn “get asked that so much.”

“I think it would just be the right story…I think the things we’ve gotten sent over the years feel a little light,” she said.

“I think if my mom and I are going to do something together, it needs some real weight,” she continued. Hudson added that the film would have to be “really funny” and “hit in a different way.” Both Hudson and Hawn have starred in numerous comedic films and television shows.

Andy Cohen, host of the Watch What Happens Live, chimed in, adding that the film should be a “slamdunk.”

Hudson and Hawn have Not Collaborated Before

Hudson and Hawn are successful actresses in their own right. However, they are yet to act in a movie together because the two have not found a proposed project that fully satisfies them.

“We think about it,” said Hudson, “it’s just that we haven’t read it yet; we haven’t figured that one out.”

Hudson gained fame for her turn as Penny Lane in “Almost Famous” in 2000, for which she won a Golden Globe. She has since starred in hit romantic comedies like “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” and “Bride Wars.” The actress’ next release is “Song Sung Blue,” a musical biopic about a Neil Diamond cover band. While the film does not release until Christmas Day, Hudson’s performance has already generated buzz on the awards circuit.

Hawn, too, has starred in many comedic projects. On television, she hosted “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In” before entering the film industry in 1968. She acted in movies like “Death Becomes Her” and “Foul Play” before taking a 15-year hiatus in the 2000s. Hawn then returned to the big screen with “Snatched” in 2017.

She’s received both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for her supporting role performance in “Cactus Flower.” Hawn also boasts a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Knowing Hudson’s requirements for working with Hawn, eager fans may indefinitely be awaiting a collaboration between the impressive mother-daughter duo.
