Kate Hudson expressed her sorrow after Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed on Sunday, December 14.
She took to Instagram the day after and fans know she is devastated by the tragedy.
“The loss of Rob and Michele is absolutely devastating. They were not only important to our close community but Rob touched so many millions globally with his art,” Hudson wrote.
Rob Reiner Had a Wide Range of Filmography
She praised Reiner’s ability to master a wide range of genres when it came to filmmaking.
“Rob was one of the greats. Inspiring so many of us with his ability to craft films that are humorous, powerful, inspirational. He knew no genre, only great storytelling,” Hudson wrote.
She added, “He was loving and kind. I feel so lucky to have worked with him, know him, laughed with him and shared moments with him and Michele. Ones I will never forget.”
Hudson starred in the 2003 film “Alex & Emma,” which was directed by Reiner. The romantic comedy sees her character as she must finish a novel in 30 days in order to pay off her gambling debts.
Reiner was one of the most influential directors in recent times. Some of his films include “This Is Spinal Tap,” “When Harry Met Sally…,” “Stand by Me” and “Misery,” showcasing a rare ability to master many types of genres.
Tributes Continue to Pour in
Hudson continued her post by saying she is still processing the news.
“This tragedy is still being processed by our community and our sadness is immense. My love to his family and all friends. They were so loved and will be so missed. It’s with a profound heavy heart we have to say goodbye to two wonderful people,” she concluded.
Along with Hudson, many actors and friends of the Reiners have come forward praising the two as they offer their sympathies for the family.
Demi Moore expressed her sadness as their children grew up together.
“There are no words to truly express the unfathomable devastation of losing Rob and Michelle Reiner,” she wrote. “Our kids grew up together, we worked together, and as our lives intertwined personally and professionally I will always cherish the moments and memories of what we shared.”
Actor Jerry O’Connell described the loss as feeling like losing a parent.
Maria Shriver shared a lengthy tribute as she remembered the fond moments she previously shared with the two.
