Reese Witherspoon’s family has received some reassuring news following a frightening incident involving her father.
Dr. John Witherspoon is back home after spending two nights in the hospital following a fall at his luxury Nashville condominium, Page Six reported.
A source told the outlet that the 86-year-old was released from the hospital on Sunday.
What We Know About the Accident
The incident happened Friday when John was reportedly found face down on the concrete near the building’s pool. According to a source who spoke with the outlet, a resident spotted him and alerted the building’s doorman.
“The doorman and building manager rolled him over and they said, ‘Dr. Witherspoon, are you OK?’” the source said. “He blinked his eyes, and that’s when he was rushed to the hospital.”
Reese, 50, addressed the situation shortly after reports of her father’s hospitalization surfaced. The “Legally Blonde” star reassured fans that John was doing well and thanked those who had reached out to her family.
“Earlier today, several outlets reported that my dad was taken to the hospital after a fall. I want to let everyone know that he is fine now. He is being taken care of by wonderful doctors and nurses,” she shared in a social media post.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out. It means the world to our family,” she added.
Reese did not share additional details about her father’s condition or explain what caused the fall.
