Reba McEntire has a secret weapon on season 28 of “The Voice,” and she’s not afraid to use it!
Reba has used her experience in the past three seasons as a Voice judge to come up with a new strategy that relies on her FANS to sway performers toward Team Reba.
Fans being the key word.
In a teaser video posted on “The Voice’s” Instagram account, we see the red-headed country legend asking the audience, “Fans, who should they go with?” and then showing the audience unfurling actual fans with Reba’s face on them.
Niall Horan is quick to tell the crowd, “Put that down!” as Snoop Dogg declares, “When I say she got fans, she got FANS!”
‘The Voice’ Season 28 Debuts This Month
Reba McEntire will once again be competing against fellow judges Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg, and Niall Horan when season 28 of “The Voice” debuts on NBC September 22 at 8:00p.m. ET.
And Reba isn’t the only one with a new trick up her sleeve.
This season also introduces a new twist called the “Carson Callback.”
“Sometimes I see great singers fall through the cracks and I’ve never been able to do anything about it until right now,” host Carson Daly explains in the Instagram video.
The twist gives Daly a chance to throw a singer a lifeline to stay on the show.
Michael Bublé Comes to Play – With a Penalty Box
Not to be outdone by the Queen of Country, singer Michael Bublé is throwing his own twist in the mix this season.
The self-avowed hockey fan is introducing a penalty box- an actual box- that he can put fellow judges in for two minutes at a time.
“When somebody’s a bad boy, we put him in the penalty box,” Michael explains in the Instagram teaser. But in truth, it seems it can be for any reason. “Niall, you get two minutes for looking too good,” the “Sway” singer announces, as stage hands bring out a giant penalty box to surround Niall Horan’s chair.
Pressing his hands to the plexiglass of the penalty box, Niall yells, “What have you done, Bublé?”
Reba McEntire Is Keeping a Busy Schedule
When Reba McEntire isn’t reigning over “The Voice” from her big red judge’s chair, she’s keeping plenty busy.
The “Fancy” singer returns for season two of her NBC sitcom “Happy’s Place,” this fall. The sitcom also stars her real-life boyfriend Rex Linn and her real-life best friend, Melissa Peterman.
Reba is also producing and starring in the film adaptation of Fannie Flagg’s New York Times bestselling novel, “The All-Girl Filling Station’s Last Reunion.”
“I’ve always been a fan of Fannie Flagg and her writing, and it’s been an honor to call her my friend for the past decade,” Reba told Deadline. “I cannot wait to work with this incredible team to bring another one of her special stories to life on the big screen.”
