Reba McEntire, 70, and Rex Linn, 69, decided to postpone their wedding plans after they both agreed to put their careers first, the country artist explained in an interview with E! News at the 2026 Grammys earlier this February.
While explaining to the reporter why they put their wedding on the shelf, McEntire said, “He says, ‘Work comes first,’” adding, “We’re still waiting on a third season pickup from ‘Happy’s Place,’ and Rex got picked up on ‘Stick’ with Owen Wilson, so that pushed the wedding back.”
Reba McEntire & Rex Linn’s Longstanding History
GettyMcEntire and Linn have starred on the hit NBC sitcom “Happy’s Place” since the first season in 2024. The couple, however, began their romantic relationship in 2020 after reconnecting when Linn reached out to the country music singer after her mom passed away in March of that same year, People reports. They originally met in the 1990s, but McEntire was married at the time, and the now-couple only kept their relationship casual.
In a previous interview with People, McEntire gushed over her feelings for the “CSI: Miami” actor, saying she loves him “with all my heart.” The former coach of “The Voice” added, “Rex meets me at the garage when I get out of the car. He’ll fix me a drink if I need it. He’ll sit there and talk to me because I’ve talked my head off all day long, so he knows I just need to relax and chill.”
Why Reba McEntire & Rex Linn Kept Their Engagement a Secret
McEntire and Linn kept their engagement a secret for nearly a year before speculation grew after she didn’t correct a reporter from E! News at the 2025 Emmy Awards when they referred to her and Linn as fiancés. With her fans spiraling for more information, the country music artist spilled all of the intimate details in an interview with People about how Linn proposed and why they kept it to themselves for so long.
“We got engaged December the 24th, Christmas Eve, at Leiper’s Fork [in Tennessee],” McEntire told the outlet. She then explained how it felt more fitting to celebrate in private after the devastation of the Palisades and Eaton wildfires in California the following month.
“So we got engaged then; we were going to make the announcement when we got back to L.A. in January, and the fires happened,” she said. “It wasn’t appropriate.”
