Gorgeous Karen Gillan Adorably Fangirls Over Horror Icons

Scottish actress and filmmaker Karen Gillan has been adorably fangirling over a pair of bona fide horror legends.

Gillan, 38, is known best for playing Amy Pond in the classic British sci-fi series “Doctor Who,” Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Ruby Roundhouse in the “Jumanji” franchise.

What you may not know about her, however, is that she’s a huge horror movie fan. In 2019, she told Rotten Tomatoes that “The Shining” was her favorite film for their “Five Favorite Films” feature. Her full quote is no longer available there, but, per Far Out, she said, “I am a huge horror film fan. love them so much. I’ve always loved them. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been attracted to scary stuff; I don’t know why. When I was younger, I would watch a lot of the cheesier process-of-elimination slasher ’90s films, and then I feel like, as my tastes matured a little bit as I got older, I found The Shining, which is a movie that my dad had always spoken about with this weird fear, because he’d never finished the movie.”

She is now something of a minor scream queen herself. Gillan has starred in the 2010 British supernatural horror thriller “Outcast” and the 2013 psychological horror “Oculus.” She also wrote, directed, and starred in the 2015 short horror film “Fun Size Horror: Volume Two” in the segment entitled “Conventional.”

The star’s dreams have now come true as she took to social media to share her meeting with two of her favorite horror icons.

Karen Gillan Met the Twins From ‘The Shining’

Karen Gillan met the iconic ghostly twins from “The Shining” at Steel City Con in Pennsylvania this weekend.

Lisa and Louise Burns played the Grady twins in Stanley Kubrick’s classic 1980 horror, based on Stephen King’s 1977 novel of the same name. They are now in their late 50s, having been born some time in 1968 (per their IMDb profiles).

As a huge fan of “The Shining,” Gillan was delighted to meet them and posted a video with the sisters.

Standing in a carpeted corridor (reminiscent of the corridor in which the twins stood in the Overlook Hotel in “The Shining”), Gillan recites a famous line from the movie with Lisa and Louise. The trio say, “Come and play with us, Danny, forever and ever and ever.” Gillan is so excited that she can barely contain herself.

Gillan’s caption on her post reads, “Come and play with us……this is hardest I’ve ever fangirled. Should I go as The Shining carpet for Halloween this year?”

The “Guardians of the Galaxy” actress’ fans and followers loved the fact she got to meet two of her horror heroines.

An attendee of the Steel City Con commented, “Ahh that’s so cool! It was so amazing to meet you at Steel City Con. Thank you for being there!”

Someone else proclaimed, “What.. you are so lucky you met them!!! 🙌”

“Aren’t they the sweetest ladies? Met them a few years ago and they’re just lovely,” said somebody else.

Finally, one Instagram user commented, “Oh my god! Wow!”

It’s always lovely to see huge stars getting starstruck themselves. Gillan has appeared in some huge movies, but her fangirling over Lisa and Louise Burns is just adorable. We’re so happy that she got to meet them.
