Former The Voice coach Nick Jonas shared a lighthearted wardrobe discovery with fans this week. He realized in a casual way that the jeans he wore for a late-night TV appearance had already been worn by Glen Powell.
Jonas explained the moment in a video posted directly to Instagram. He said a brand loaned him denim for his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he performed his new song “Gut Punch.”
While getting dressed, he checked the pockets and had an interesting discovery.
An Unexpected Celebrity Wardrobe Mix-up
Apparently, this is is a standard practice for televised performances.
“A lot of times a brand will lend you something to wear for a big TV performance or something like that,” Jonas said in the clip.
He felt something crumpled in the pocket, so he pulled it out and unfolded it. The item turned out to be an old airplane ticket. The name printed on it belonged to Powell.
“Of course, it belongs to Glen Powell, of all people,” Jonas said with a laugh. “My friend Glen Powell. His plane ticket. He wore these pants before. It’s the brotherhood of the traveling pants.”
He captioned the video simply, “brotherhood of the traveling pants.”
The story quickly circulated online with followers amused by the unlikely Hollywood hand-me-down.
Powell joined the comments and kept the tone playful.
“They didn’t wash these for you?!?” he wrote. “I feel like the Brotherhood of the Traveling Pants should incorporate some sort of hygiene pact.”
Jonas replied that the jeans appeared “dry cleaned,” continuing the friendly exchange.
The Former ‘Voice’ Coach Turns the Moment Into a Viral Exchange
While the incident was minor, the interaction resonated with fans who associate Jonas with a similarly relaxed and personable presence on screen and as a doting husband and father. The performer, who rose to fame as a member of The Jonas Brothers, also built a following as a prominent part of the NBC competition show, “The Voice.”
Jonas is no stranger to the format. He previously served as a coach on seasons 18 and 20 and acted as an advisor on season 15 for Christina Aguilera’s team. In 2025 for season 28, he returned as a Battle Round advisor for Reba McEntire’s team.
His relaxed humor and approachable style have long defined his presence on the series. That same tone carried into this Instagram story. Rather than a formal press moment, Jonas shared a candid, everyday mishap with fans.
Sometimes, even borrowed jeans come with a backstory.
