Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman Turn Heads in Bold Gowns at ‘Practical Magic 2’ Premiere

Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman brought a double dose of glamour and sisterly chemistry to London. The longtime friends turned heads at the “Practical Magic 2” premiere on Wednesday, August 26, stepping into Leicester Square in coordinating strapless gowns with thigh-high slits. Nearly three decades after they first played Sally and Gillian Owens, the Oscar winners looked completely at ease as they smiled and posed side by side.

The warmth between Bullock and Kidman was not simply a red carpet performance. Their friendship grew from the original 1998 film and returned naturally when production began on the sequel.

Kidman told People in August 2025 that she and Bullock were “like sisters” and still enjoyed poking fun at each other. “I can tease her, and she teases me,” Kidman said. She added that the pair were “just having the best time together” after slipping back into their familiar rhythm.

Their reunion carried additional meaning because both women also produced “Practical Magic 2.” Their on-screen chemistry helped revive characters who have remained beloved for nearly 30 years.

‘Practical Magic 2’ Brings the Owens Family Back Together

The original “Practical Magic,” based on Alice Hoffman’s 1995 novel, followed witch sisters Sally and Gillian as they confronted a family curse that threatened the men they loved.

Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest return as Franny and Jet, the unconventional aunts who raised the Owens sisters. The sequel also welcomes Joey King, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, Solly McLeod and Xolo Maridueña.

Kidman previously shared behind-the-scenes images showing the movie’s familiar world of plants, potions, spell books and a black cat. The beloved Victorian-style Owens house has also been recreated for the new chapter.

According to Warner Bros., “Practical Magic 2” arrives in theaters on Friday, September 11. The release gives audiences the long-awaited chance to see Bullock and Kidman bring their onscreen sisterhood, and their easy real-life friendship, back to the big screen.
