Savannah Guthrie Returns to ‘Today’ for First Interview Since Mom’s Heartbreaking Disappearance: ‘We Are in Agony’

As Savannah Guthrie continues to navigate an unthinkable personal crisis, she is returning to “Today” for a deeply emotional interview with her longtime colleague and close friend, Hoda Kotb.

The NBC morning show shared a preview of their sit-down, filmed on Tuesday and set to air in two parts across Thursday and Friday’s episodes.

In the clip, Guthrie opens up about the pain and uncertainty her family has faced since her mother, Nancy Guthrie, went missing nearly two months ago.

Savannah Guthrie Says Family Is ‘In Agony’ as She Pleads for Mother’s Safe Return

“Somebody needs to do the right thing. We are in agony. We are in agony. It has been unbearable. And to think of what she went through. I wake up every night in the middle of the night. Every night,” Guthrie said.

“And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought, and I will not hide my face. But she needs to come home now.”

NBC Anchor Has Been Off-Air Since Mother’s Disappearance

Guthrie has been off the air since early February, when her 84-year-old mother was taken from her home in Tucson, Arizona, in what authorities have described as a violent incident.

Nancy remains missing, and there has been no confirmed proof of life since the day she disappeared. She has limited mobility and a heart condition, factors that have heightened concern and added urgency to the ongoing search.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case in coordination with the FBI, as officials continue to follow leads and appeal for information.

Details of Savannah Guthrie’s Quiet Visit to ‘Today’ Set as Return Nears

In March, Guthrie made a quiet visit to the “Today” studio, reuniting with colleagues as she continues to navigate a deeply personal crisis.

Images from the emotional moment were later shared, reflecting her gratitude for the support she has received.

“Savannah Guthrie stopped by the studio this morning to be with and thank her Today colleagues,” an NBC News spokesperson said.

“While she plans to return to the show on air, she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home.”

A return-to-air date has not yet been confirmed, though sources say it is expected soon.

As the investigation continues, Guthrie and her family have taken further steps in their search, offering a $1 million reward for information that leads to Nancy’s recovery.

In a previous Instagram post, Guthrie opened up about the uncertainty surrounding her mother’s fate.

“We also know that she may be lost. She may already be gone,” she said. “She may have already gone home to the Lord that she loves and is dancing in heaven with her mom and her dad, with her beloved brother, Pierce, and with our daddy.”

Federal authorities had earlier announced a $100,000 reward.

For Guthrie, the search remains deeply personal and ongoing, as she continues to hold onto hope while facing an unimaginable reality.
