Sheriff Issues Desperate Plea to Community in Nancy Guthrie Case: Update

As the search for Savannah Guthrie’s beloved mother, Nancy Guthrie, continues, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department issued a desperate plea to the community.

“The Pima County Sheriff’s Department recognizes that members of the community may have thoughts, opinions, feelings and questions regarding the Nancy Guthrie case. However, 9-1-1 & the PCSD non-emergency line are not the appropriate venue for expressing those views,” the department shared via social media on Tuesday, February 10. “We respectfully ask that only actionable tips be submitted through one of the following channels: 1-800-CALL-FBI, 88-CRIME, 520-351-4900, or tips.fbi.gov.”

They went on to thank the Tucson community for their “cooperation and understanding as we continue to serve the community.”

“To ensure we can respond to other emergencies, we must keep 9-1-1 lines open for situations requiring immediate assistance,” their message continued. “These lines are not the appropriate place to share opinions or commentary.”

Pima County Sheriff Department Shares Suspect Photos

Shortly before addressing the inappropriate responses flooding emergency lines, investigators released the first images of a person of interest in the Nancy Guthrie case.

“Over the last eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue to recover any images or video footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, corrupted, or inaccessible due to a variety of factors, including the removal of recording devices. The video was recovered from residual date located in backend systems,” the statement began.

“Working with our partners – as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance,” investigators concluded.

Savannah Guthrie reshared the new images, writing, “Someone out there recognizes this person. We believe she is still out there. Bring her home.”

“We believe she is still alive. Bring her home,” the “Today” host wrote via Instagram. “Anyone with information, please contact 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or the Pima County Sheriff’s Department 520-351-4900”

No Suspect Identified in Guthrie’s Disappearance

As of Monday, February 9, after more than a week of searching for the 84-year-old, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office explained that they still have “not identified any suspects, persons of interest or vehicles connected to Nancy Guthrie.”

That same day, Savannah Guthrie shared a plea with her mom’s alleged captors, begging them to “bring her home.”
