Variety confirmed news of a second season for “The Burbs” on April 14. Lisa Katz, president of scripted content for NBC & Peacock, released a statement. She said, “We’re so thrilled that audiences loved season one of ‘The ’Burbs,’ and are going to get to spend more time in Hinkley Hills with Keke and the rest of this incredible cast.”
She continued, “A huge congratulations to all of the writers, producers, and crew who updated the beloved original film and made something funny, warm, and highly contemporary.”
Peacock’s ‘The Burbs’ Has Great Reviews and Strong Viewership
As mentioned, Peacock premiered “The Burbs” on February 8, 2026. Per Variety, which shared viewership from Peacock, the show has been watched for 1.7 billion minutes, which is the equivalent of 28.3 million hours, easily making it one of the streamer’s most popular original series.
“The Burbs” also fared well with critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, the show has a 78% rating from 40 registered critics. This makes it “certified fresh.” Regarding audience scores, the Palmer-led company has a 68% rating.
One critic said of the show, “It is more goofy than scary, and lacks the chills of the original, but nevertheless, it goes down easily enough.” Someone else wrote, “…Keke Palmer is a delight to have in the series. Her presence more than anything keeps this thing afloat. I simply hope that the writers can continue to come up with interesting mysteries season after season.”
Another critic said, “With a strong cast, sharp comedic timing, and a mystery that keeps twisting, The ‘Burbs proves that the most dangerous place in America might not be a haunted mansion or a dark forest. It might just be the quietest street in the suburbs.”
Keke Palmer Has Several Projects in the Works
GettyPalmer, who stars in “The Burbs,” has a stacked schedule for 2026. According to IMDb, her next film, “I Love Boosters,” is set to be released in movie theaters on May 22, 2026. Additionally, she’s a part of the voice cast for “The Angry Birds Movie 3.”
Palmer also has several movies currently in pre-production. Some include “One of Them Days 2,” “Ride or Die,” and “Sister Act 3.”
